This could be a MAJOR problem. Reminds me of the Minny game last year - they spanked us and exposed our corners/safety.

Raiders WR's are all world SPEED. Should be interesting to see how Zimmer tries to "prevent this". I fear he goes to his baby 4-3 cover 2 and puts both safeties 20 yards back and retreating.

All I can say is we better pressure the heck out of Kerry Collins!

We need to be in his face all day!

I know there is some risk in this, but I would blitz the heck out of him all day long.

I can not remember the exact numbers, but before the Philly game they showed a stat from his first 2 games against the blitz, and he was horrible.

It will also be very important to get pyhsical with Moss at the line of scrimmage.

With what is going on right now I think we have to play a deep saftey over the top of Moss, and he can not bite.

The Raiders make a lot of mistakes, just dont get beat deep, make them drive the whole field. I do not think they have been to good in the Red Zone.

I am sure they will make a couple of plays on us, we just can not let it be an all day thing.

Nors here w/ the OBVIOUS that everyone has been talking about.

You are outstanding Nors. We can always count on you. =)

BTW - Porter is not that fast. Moss is the only one who worries me on that offense w/ LJ coming in a close second.

And remember - They are playing Collins. He is not some all world QB. He was making some rediculous throws yesterday.

Ive watched Oakland the past 2 weeks. Moss Moss - Jordan Jordan. Those 2 we should have serious bigtime respect for come game time. I think our run D will step up and show that down. I really think the DL can clog it up.

I agree with you in principle, but forget "FS Issues" Nors. The FS situation is not to blame for what's happening in our secondary. Our CBs are getting beat on these long balls, not the Safeties. Yes, they are to provide help, but Glenn and Henry were the primary culprits on those completed bombs. Henry had a bad day, period. I see him responding next week.

At some level, we just need to do the best that we can and score lots of points. As I said in another thread, we just don't match up well with their offense. We're going to have to lean on our own offense more this week. The Raiders' defense is worse than ours.

I think the Raiders will be 1 and 3 next Sunday.

Could be, but dont count us out!

I think we are going to play better than a lot of people are thinking.

I really do not know who is going to win this game, it should be a good one.

What worries me the most is the Raiders are 0-3 and desperate.

They HAVE to win this game, and they are at home. That will play a lot in their favor.

I agree with you. It will be tough to steal this one. I am very nervous about how well Zimmy will game plan for this offense of theirs! But with the defense thaey have, it should be easy for us to stay in the game, especially if DB keeps up his consistent high level of play! It'll be a shoot out in my opinion. I could see it being our 4th nail biter in 4 weeks!!

I agree safety play is the key to the game. Not just because ours have been shaky in pass coverage, but also because Moss, Porter and Gabriel are much more dangerous than anyone we've faced. We need to take away the deep pass, period. Our best chance is to give our corners constant help over the top so that they can make aggressive plays on the ball, even if it exposes our flats and allows Jordan to gash us a little. As a desperate, 0-3 team, Turner has to force deep balls to Moss or he'll be run out of town. If we "manage" that threat (he's going to get his, regardless) and make Oakland sustain long drives, they'll kill themselves with penalties and bad decisions. Winning the T.O.P battle with long drives of our own will also help. If you think we can do that, bet on the "under"...

It's already been said that Davis has soem issues in the Washington game. He also had problems yesterday and promptly got pulled. The Washington game really points out the value of safeties, and what happens when they don't do the one thing they need to do - be the deepest man on the field. Davis makes rookie mistakes - biting on play-fakes, sitting on one receiver while ignoring another, and losing track all-together. He just needs to settle down a little and let the game come to him. He has to realize every play can't be a SportsCenter highlight. When he does get in the flow, I think our defense might really be something special.

BTW...I know our corners got beat on the two long bombs at Washington, but a lot of our coverages allow for the safety help and that obviously wasn't there. Corners get to sit on an island where anything goes - let's try to remember that before we start harping on them...

Go Cowboys!!!

No worries, the great 3-4 defense will take care of it! We'll simply use some whacky innovative blitzes and sack Collins 32 times!

But....That was a Jim Johnson coached D forcing bad throws...Allowing only 3 points to the mobby whiners the week before, where as a zimmy wuss coached D gave up a ton making Rattay look very good...

We have to change up & pressure Collins on nickle downs or he will kill us!
He has the arm & talent/speed at WR to make us pay unless changes are made!

The Cowboys don't have the luxory of playing Roy in the box this week. He'll have to play back in coverage and be effective. Both Michael Lewis and Brian Dawkins were playing back for Philly. I expect Willie Pile to see more time.

The problem for us is that the raiders are playing to alot of advantages against us on both sides of the ball. They are coming back from an emotional loss to philly which they almost stole for a win and they are playing at home. There defense has been doing quite well at stoping the run if you havent noticed the only thing that has really been killing them from putting up big numbers on offense is dumb penalties called on them.

Has Zimmer played ANY 4-3 cover 2 yet? I don't think I have seen a true 4-3 yet.

None, zip, nada.

But does this surprise you?

7 of 8 sacks, 6 of 7 turnovers have all come with a 4 man line.

SF ripped our 3-4 with the run, something that I'm amazed did not happen in the first two games.

Ellis and Singleton both came up big yesterday.

Coach Parcells and Zimmer need to comb thru the tapes of the three games in the last two seasons that the Eagles faced Randy Moss. They also need to check what the Patriots did against the Raiders. Moss is a special talent and you can only hope to contain him, if we can keep him out of the end zone and from catching a gamechanging deep ball (I know this is a daunting task but..) then we will be ok. Plus we need to lay the lumber to Lamont Jordan (a fellow Terp) everytime he carries the ball. He doesn't like to get pounded and he tends to run differently after a few good shots.

If Keenan McCardell, Santana Moss and Brandon Lloyd can torch us, I shudder to think what Randy's gonna do. :bang2:
