Morgan Burnett-DB- Player Mar. 15 - 1:13 pm et

Georgia Tech FS Morgan Burnett officially ran a 4.45 forty-yard dash at the Yellow Jackets' Monday Pro Day.

He was also impressive with a 39.5-inch vertical and 11-foot broad jump. Burnett, a serious playmaker in college, is healthy after sitting out drills at the Combine due to a hamstring injury. There were question marks about his athleticism, so the elite numbers help. Burnett is a second-round prospect.

It’s a very heavy SEC week on the pro-day schedule starting today as 100 scouts, coaches and general managers are expected in Baton Rouge for the LSU event. In Atlanta, pro-day is well underway at Georgia Tech. We’ll be live through the afternoon when EMU signal caller Andy Schmitt throws for scouts as he continues his return from the knee injury which knocked him out for most of the ’09 campaign. Update: More on GT

Georgia Tech

1:30

Jonathan Dwyer’s official forty time was actually 4.55 seconds. A number of people have told us he looked terrific.

Derrick Morgan completed only defensive line drills today, no linebacker drills and sources told us he looked a bit winded. The Seattle Seahawks ran the drills but the Jacksonville Jaguars also sent a large contingent to watch Morgan.

Morgan Burnett’s official numbers included 4.45 in the forty, 3.94 in the short shuttle, 6.87 in the three cone, 11-feet in the broad and 39.5 in the vert.

Among those in Atlanta for the Georgia Tech pro-day was Chicago Bear head coach Lovie Smoth and Ken Wisenhunt of the Arizona Cardinals.

12:30

Jonathan Dwyer was significantly faster in the forty today compared to his times at the combine. Sources have told us he’s run as fast as 4.52 seconds today, though the “official” time is likely to be closer to 4.55 seconds.

Safety Morgan Burnett clocked his 40 times in the mid 4.4 second range, with some timing Burnett as fast as 4.42-seconds.

Defensive end Derrick Morgan stood on his solid combine numbers but is participating in position drills.

12PM

Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas is at the Georgia Tech pro-day, wearing a boot on the left foot that was surgically repaired but for the most part moving around very well according to sources.

Much like he did at the combine running back Jonathan Dwyer looks solid in drills and is easily moving around the field.

Offensive lineman Cord Howard measured 6-foot 4.5-inches and 314 pounds. He ran 5.1-seconds in the forty, completed 25 reps on the bench and posted a 30-inch vertical jump.

Safety Morgan Burnett started the day with a 40-inch vertical jump and 11-foot broad jump.

An additional note is that they ran into the wind at Tech today.

That's so legit for Burnett. His biggest question mark was his speed, so that answers a lot of questions.

Monday, March 15, 12:52 p.m.

Receiver Demaryius Thomas did attend the Georgia Tech pro day today in Atlanta. With a boot still on his surgically repaired left foot, Thomas walked without the aid of crutches and by all accounts was moving very well.

Jonathan Dwyer looked very impressive from start to finish. In similar fashion to his combine performance, Dwyer looked terrific in drills, effortlessly moving around and looking in great shape. Unlike Indianapolis, Dwyer was swift in the 40, clocking times which read in the mid-4.55 area, almost .15 faster than his time at the combine. This will restore Dwyer's draft ranking and he now battles Ryan Mathews of Fresno State and Jahvid Best of Cal for the right to be the second running back selected in next month's draft after C.J. Spiller of Clemson.

Safety Morgan Burnett, who did not participate in combine workouts due to a strained left hamstring, has turned heads today. Burnett started the day by posting a vertical jump of 40 inches and a broad jump of 11-feet. Most clocked his 40 times in the mid-4.4 range, with some timing Burnett as fast as 4.42.

Defensive end Derrick Morgan stood on his solid combine numbers but is participating in position drills. Morgan looks good and the consensus is he's assured to be a top 12 pick in the draft.

More of the same.

Live Pro-Day Results 3/15: Georgia Tech, LSU, Eastern Michigan!

Update: LSU & Eastern Michigan
Eastern Michigan

Ten teams including the Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions showed up for the Eastern Michigan pro-day, most to watch quarterback Andy Schmitt, who did not disappoint.

Schmitt, barely five months removed from the ACL surgery which ended his season in 2009, measured 6077/230lbs. He threw the ball well into a stiff wind, displaying good velocity on passes and enough accuracy to keep scouts interested. His deep throws were especially solid.

Running back Terrence Blevins, a rather intriguing prospect, also looked good and was especially solid catching the ball out of the backfield.

LSU

8:10 PM

Unlike his performance in Indianapolis, safety Chad Jones looked terrific in drills today displaying good footwork and lateral movement skills. Sources told us Jones, “looked like a real centerfielder.”

Conerback Chris Hawkins also looked terrific in drills after running the fastest forty time of any defensive back in attendance. Like Jones, his work in position drills was much improved over his combine outing.

Harry Coelman was adequate but did not really standout in position drills while Danny McCrae looked a bit mechanical.

We earlier reported that Brandon LaFell looked to be favoring one leg. That’s because he was wrapped from the knee up after sustaining an injury during the team’s bowl game. One scout told us it was more an illusion because of the wrapping rather than LaFell actually favoring one of his limbs.

2PM

Here’s the news coming from LSU as the players are finishing up their workouts.

Running back Charles Scott ran 4.53 in the 40, much better than his combine times which were electronically timed at 4.75 and 4.72.

Cornerback Chris Hawkins, posted 40 times in the very low 4.4-second area an improved his vertical jump to 36.5 inches. Both marks much better than his combine numbers.

Keiland Williams, who did not run at the combine due to an ankle injury, stopped watches in the low 4.5-second area during the 40, with some scouts timing him as fast as 4.51 seconds.

Safety Danny McCrae has been impressive. McCray weighed 214-pounds, completed 24 reps on the bench then ran times of 4.46-seconds in the forty.

Brandon LaFell was only slightly faster today than in Indianapolis last month. Both of his 40 times hovered in the mid 4.5 seconds area (4.55). Sources told us that while LaFell has caught the ball well in drills he seems to be favoring one leg.

Safety Chad Jones also ran similar times and completed just 11 reps on the bench. We’ve heard Jones has not looked good and is slipping all over the place.

I would love to grab him with our 2nd round pick but I think he's going early 2nd.

I can do 11 foot broad jumps drunk.

So of the 6 drunk women at the bar, one of them was missing a foot?

I am glad this draft is field with Free Safeties. I know our scouts will choose the right one if that guy presents himself.
