Like Brooks a lot. See a playmaker in him.

I also like Ward, as well.

Not 100% sold on the top two safeties being that much better than these 2

I think if Brooks was 6'1 210 he's be a 1st round pick. Watching game tape on him and its hard to find a time where he's ever out of position. But hey, if teams are going to get caught up in 1 1/2" and 10 lbs I'll gladly take him as a steal in the 3rd. Its pretty much against the rules for safeties to hit anymore anyway, I'll take the guy who can cover a bunch of ground and knows how to stay in position over the big hitter.

I completely agree on this. I think Ward and Brooks are just as good as Dix. Maybe a tiny half step down from Pryor.

Really like Brooks, my only issue is that I think Wilcox still has plenty of potential.

Agree.

I love Brooks, but Wilcox isnt a slouch. Wilcox has alot of range, he was a small school rookie that got hurt. I want Dallas to run with church and wilcox. If it isnt up to par sign a vet and draft in 2015.

Agree with all this, for the most part. I think the investment we've made in Wilcox (3rd round pick just last year) means that a guy would have to be far and away the BPA in the first couple rounds to justify a pick on a S.

Getting to the 3rd round though, I could see taking a guy we had more of a 2nd round grade on. Let's not forget, defense isn't played in black and white. It's played in grey. What I mean by that is we could easily get Church, Wilcox AND one of these highly rated rookie S's on the field all at once in certain situations. Let's say we draft Brooks and believe him to be a true FS upgrade. 3rd and 10 comes... Brooks at FS, Wilcox at SS and Church up in the box in place of the SAM. The nickel is played with an extra DB, but there's nothing that says that extra DB has to be a CB if the matchups dictate otherwise. I guy like Ward also seems to be a slot CB option if Scandrick goes down.

Wilcox couldn't stay on the field last year in key situations because an undrafted free agent named Jeff Heath was deemed a better option. And now you want to go into next year with him penciled in at starter? To me that is crazy. I'm not saying that Jerry won't do it, but it's a horrible idea in my opinion. Unfortunately just being a good athlete doesn't get you anywhere in the NFL, especially at a position like FS.

Because Church replaced Allan ball in 2011, that was a bad idea too huh.

Good thoughts, C-Law.

Let's hope the brain trust is burning the midnight oil on just such considerations for next years schemes and roster.
That's one of the talents Jimmy had -- he knew exactly what he wanted to run, and could visualize the players fitting into that system.

Barry Church wasn't a D2 WR a couple years before becoming a starting NFL safety. And since when did Barry Church become the gold standard for how we should develop players?

Church wasnt draft. The argument isnt about the way they draft players, its allowing players you draft to develop. Try to keep up.
