If DeMarco was his own team he would rank 6th in the NFL in rushing yards

Wow, I didn't realize there was so little gap between us and the Jets.

Pretty cool, but I think he was actually like 4th a week ago.

Wouldn't he be 5th? Can't really count Dallas since most of that is Murray.

Surprised there is so many running by committee teams.. Not enough workhorse backs out there anymore..Players and the league in general are getting soft.

Yeah the Jets are close to Dallas' rushing numbers because they have an extra game lol From the looks of things there's a decent chance after everyone's played their games The Cowboys could still be leading the league in rushing without even taking the field.

Two firsts? Yes, absolutely. It would never be offered, but that is a great deal at this time due to Murray being in the last year of his contract. I don't think any team could pass up a deal like that.

Just one first? It would depend on which team and their expected draft positioning next year. I lean toward no unless you really think it will result in a top 5 pick.

I can't see a team out there offering any high draft picks(1st, 2nd or 3rd) for Murray at this point. Team either currently have the running backs they want or aren't good enough to think they are one running back away from being significantly better.

We're really in the trade market at running back now?

No, not at all. Dallas isn't looking to trade Murray or picking up another running back. Now if a team did call and say they most definitley wanted to give Dallas two first round picks, I think Dallas would listen.

I think too much is on the line for the current direction, to even consider losing a potentially playoff team.

Top 3 rushing teams: 9-10
Top 3 pass rating teams: 13-4

Top 5 rushing teams: 17-14
Top 5 pass rating teams: 21-6-1

Top 10 rushing teams: 33-27
Top 10 pass rating teams: 40-16-1

There are three teams that rank among the top 10 in pass rating, but are bottom 10 in rushing yards (GB, Den, SD), and they're a combined 13-4.

There are three teams that rank among the top 10 in rushing yards, but are bottom 10 in pass rating (NYJ, Hou, Min). None of them has a winning record.

And no, that doesn't mean that how well you run the ball is completely unimportant. Running well obviously benefits a team. But if you can't throw it, you won't win many games. You'd rather be good at both, but if you can only be good at one, it's obvious which one you would choose.

Being able to run very effectively, does affect team balance. It keeps a lot of pressure continually off the defense, who are then able to be more physical in transition points during the game.

Sure and it isn't likely that a team will offer up one first round pick much less two firsts in order to acquire Murray. It is a hypothetical situation that will never happen.

Like I said, running well obviously benefits a team. I've given examples before of games and seasons in which rushing clearly made the difference. It's an overstatement to say that how well you run doesn't matter.

But you can see that it would be just as much of an exaggeration to say that running well is the key to a successful offense.

There was never a conflict of fact presented, Percy, only an applied point that supported your original statements to begin with.

This is currently a passing league, and until that is equalized with an ability to run well, then that is just the nature of today's game. And your statistics point to just that. But for the Cowboys, they have a very good quarterback and is able to integrate a team benefiting running game as well. That is still pretty important, as that ability can affect and change a close game against a quality team. When small things do win.

One could also que up the Seattle WR trade on merit of team chemistry, even when the passing game is at core.

If you have a great defense you would rather be good at running the ball. If you dont, youd rather be good at passing the ball.
