We just drafted DE Bradlee Anae with the compensation pick we got for Cole Beasley. We replaced Beasley with an arguably better season out of Randall Cobb at a lower price.

Then Cobb left and we will get another compensation pick in the 5th for him next year. Works for me!

The comp pick for Quinn is going to be higher than the 6th round pick they used to get him. That feels like we're cheating...

We basically bought a mid round pick for a late rounder short term cap space

We should still have close to 10-12 left aftee the rookie pool to do it again

If the Cowboys can continue to be flexible with their cap space they could make a move like that every year. Trade a late pick to a team looking to shed a big contract. Then if the player plays well he will get a big deal the following year and the Cowboys will get a comp pick.

The only problem is 5th rounders and below never pan out in Dallas

Big time. Right now the projections are a 4th for Quinn and a 3rd for Byron Jones.
OTC

Byron Jones - 3rd
Robert Quinn - 4th
Randall Cobb - 5th
Jeff Heath - 6th

Teams can receive a max of 4 compensatory selections.

Xavier Woods has started for 2 seasons.

CB Brown as been the "starting" Nickel CB for the past 3 seasons.

Swain was an OK starter the year Witten was gone until Swaim got injured.

Hanna became a solid #2 TE that played a lot of snaps.

True that is decent value. But none of those guys are playmakers and can be replaced easily.

So all late round picks that are less successful than Tom Brady were wasted picks???

No. That's not at all what I'm saying.

I'm saying they always either become JAG here or don't make the roster.

We'll just use it to draft another wide receiver since we don't have enough of those instead of upgrading in the trenches.

I just pointed out multiple significant contributors from recent years that were late round picks.

yes add to CEEDEE just dropping on our laps and we grab him to fit need sort of because of Cobbs absence..chips falling into place..

Man if you consider those players as major contributors you have a thing for mediocrity

Played significant snaps or started games in seasons the team made the playoffs.
