Let's play a game. Its round 3 pick #76 and we have not taken a DT yet. Assume for this exercise all these guys are available, who would you take.

Projected 1Tech

  • T.J. Sanders
  • O.N. Lott
  • C.J. West
  • J. Phillips

Projected 3Tech

  • A. Peebles
  • A. Collins
  • D. Walker
  • J. Farmer
  • J. Caldwell

for 1 Tech I really like ON Lott and CJ West above the others in list.

for 3 Tech Huge fan of Peebles Farmer is also a player I'm growing to like.

TJ Sanders is more of a 3 technique than a 1 technique

So I went ahead and fixed your lists, the 1's and 3's were all mixed up
3-Techs
Sanders, South Carolina- won't be there
Lott, Tennessee
Farmer, Florida State
Peebles, Virginia Tech
Turner, Texas A&M
Robinson, Nebraska

1-Techs
Collins, Texas- won't be there
West, Indiana
Phillips, Maryland
Caldwell, Oregon
Walker, Kentucky

I like Lott as a 3-Tech at 76 or Phillips as a 1-Tech

Farmer might be able to play both positions.

I'm going 1T because I think the quality 3Ts (Farmer, OML, Sanders) will be gone. I view Walker as a super-sized 3T too.

Give me CJ West. Pair him w/ Mazi to rotate at NT. Phillips is just as good imo. I also like Caldwell. I'd like two 1T and a 3T from this draft or a hybrid (Harmon, Farmer) and a 1T.

At 76, take DWalker @3T. He is the Osa opposite, big and quick instead of smaller and quick. They might make a good rotation if Osa can teach him some anchor.
Then at 150 take JCaldwell to rotate in with Mazi at the 1T. If he isn't there CJ West or JJ Pegus should be.

But if STurner is available at 150, he would be good value there.

Now that they signed Odiggy, we need a 1 Tech. Mazi just isn't it. So I want the guy who can't be moved. Not sure if that would be Collins or West?

deone walker,kentucky.
if still there in rd3,i think he's the best player on the list.
alfred collins, texas is a close 2nd in my opinion.
i also really like oregon's jamaree caldwell.

If you want to talk about “fun” DT’s, it doesn’t get talked about enough that JJ Pegues had 7 rushing TD’s last year. The guy has freakish fluid athletic ability for a 300+ pounder

They had him do FB drills and catch some passes at the combine

Think he will only improve at DL considering he is fairly new to the position.

I think Caldwell can play 1T and he will be better than Gallimore and Mazi last year. I know it is not saying much but I would see him as an improvement over what they have had recently.

Fun for sure. I like FB/DT Matlock for the Chargers, and I definitely want one of those type players for Dallas...Pegues is on my radar. Guy has good hands too.
