There were a few examples of poor training and respect shown in the video by employees too. One employee grabbed a customer for not showing their receipt. The employee should have probable cause before touching anyone. Another employee completely lost her composure, started screaming and knocking over a shopping cart. It would not shock me that she lost her job, not for the receipt inspection denial but for total lack of professionalism.

Another example was the employee trying to either put her hand over the customer's cellphone or grabbing it from them. That really grinds my gears in every conceivable scenario. Do not touch someone's camera or block someone recording you in public while you are interacting with them. That person's device is not your property. Hands off. Plus, do not hide yourself if you are 'in the right' to stop someone else. That OTHER person's device will eventually prove you were right to stop or block them if YOU are truly in the right.

Not to mention you can't be a shoplifter while you're IN the store. You haven't shoplifted until you EXIT the store with merchandise you did not pay for. So even if a customer has soemone he/she didn't pay for, you can't accuse them of shoplifting.

I used to work as Asset Protection for Mervyns back in the day, and there was like a 7 step procedure that had to be followed to catch a shoplifter. Exiting the store with merchandise they didn't pay for was step #7.

Many years ago we were in Sam's and it was pretty busy and we got in a line behind this couple. He kept leaving and bringing more items to put on the flat cart. They got up to the checkout and all of the sudden these security guards converged on them and they began taking the items out of the boxes and looking inside. They had 3 of those metal kitchen trash cans in boxes and inside those cans was all kinds of stuff and one was packed with pork loins.

My wife and all the people around are just watching this unfold and by the time they had all of the stuff out, it was two carts worth. After everything settled down and the cops arrived to take them away my wife said to the checkout lady "guess we know now why they check our receipt and contents at the door" and the checkout lady replied "honey, you've got no idea what people will do to steal. That happens a lot more than I would like to think".

Pilferage is a real problem and creates higher prices for everyone. I am never offended when they ask to see my receipt and cross check that.
