Fundamental Flaw with Dak

It’s ironic Dak coughed up the ball on a critical possession late in this game. I was calling it out (others as well) in the game thread but Dak has many flaws obviously, but one fundamental issue I see is the way he handles pressure.

Good QBs know how to glide and step up in the pocket to avoid pressure and open up throwing windows for themselves as well as buy time to allow route patterns to develop.

Dak doesn’t.

He has a habit of taking his eyes off the receivers, pulling the ball down and spinning needlessly. All of this takes his receivers out of the play. Has it worked on a occasion? Yes. But it’s poor QBing; do you see Brady flailing around at the hint of pressure?

He's not reading the field effectively IMO

It’s true.

It’s all tied in with his poor footwork.

If he maintained proper footwork and stepped up into the pocket better, it would also improve his accuracy as well. As footwork is the #1 problem with his accuracy.

I was hoping he would improve his footwork beyond this level by now, but he hasn’t. And that’s why he continues to struggle.

If he fixed his footwork, his overall level of play would increase dramatically IMO.

Don't worry, he has one of the best minds at QB coach. Moore will help fix those flaws

Dak needs to quit being the dutiful soldier following orders and go rogue. He needs to take control of the offense. Maybe he needs to call for a closed door meeting with the offense.

The worst part?

On that fumble he didn’t need to glide or slide or step up in the pocket.

He had time and a clean pocket to throw to Gallup who was breaking open or even just dump it off.

Instead he froze, caused the pressure himself and likely made the game deciding play.

Dak’s problem is what he leaves on the field.

Why isn’t it hard to just accept the fact is he processes the field slowly and has horrible reaction time? His best plays are where he knows he is going from the very beginning or when he is throwing on the run?

You can’t change the way your mind processes this late in the game. The great QBs have it to a major degree. What they develop primarily is being able to decipher everything pre-snap.

He’s a typical street-ball QB..
