Darwin Group Award Nominee, 7 Person Group

CouchCoach mentioned the guys in the GIF were Darwin Award nominees and I was just reminding him that they will remain nominees until they accidentally remove themselves from the human genome.

I remember when those first began to circulate, along with stupid criminals, I couldn't wait for the next ones. My wife would just shake her head in disbelief while I was on the floor losing it. And we didn't have the advantage of the videos as proof back then, just the descriptions.

That was also before one of my favorites, Walmart People, because I used to live in an area of Southern OK that that could have originated from as I used to tell my Texas friends that "we don't have a zoo but we do have this Walmart". Since I ran the radio stations, I got to know the manager pretty well and he said his corporate people told him he had the most unusual clientele of all the stores, even the ones within 30 miles. This was before they actually started trying to get on Walmart People. I saw things that mystified the mind.

One day he called me because he knew my sense of humor and told me I had to get there and had to promise not to take any photos. Our stations were right behind the store. As I walked in, he nodded over to the left and there it was. visible proof that Twinkies had really returned. There was a train of 6 women, all easily tipping the scale at 350+, and 2 were too large to walk and on those little scooters buried somewhere in the recesses of their ample bottoms. All had a cart full of nothing but Twinkies and he told me most had been there a little after midnight waiting for them to roll them out but they couldn't until 8am for some reason. One had her daughter with her in pj's and the kid had to be around 8 years old and over 200lbs. They each had a cart full.

The other event was the return of Blue Bell after the recall for listeria. They had to put on extra security because of so many people trying to steal Blue Bell. He said people were buying cheap garbage cans and trying to fill them with Blue Bell and make it out, I LOVED it. But I wasn't the only ones, the cops were absolutely losing it over the balls and creativity of some trying to steal ice cream.

I spent 9 years there and when I look back on it, the Walmart is what I miss most. Life just became ordinary and mundane after that.
