That happens far too often. There should be a sign on the bridge itself, just in case you don't see the one a couple hundred feet back. (Assuming there even is one)

Hey Sam, how many times a year does someone do this at the bridge near you, on Rte. 53 in Bethel?

I found a Youtube video some time back that was just multiple truck under bridge crashes, one after the other. I guess there are a lot of lousy truck drivers out there.

It's not so much that they're all lousy drivers. There's a lot to think about, and a lot of people to avoid. Sometimes you might miss a clearance sign, or get distracted by something stupid that someone else is doing. Then again, sometimes there's no clearance sign posted, in which case, the bridge is supposed to be higher than 13'6"...and sometimes (though rarely) the posted clearance is wrong. I've had a couple of last second slam on the brakes moments myself, over the past 30+ years.
