Because the QBs of the 1st and 2nd best NFC teams choked at the end of their playoff games.
And the QB of the 3rd best team is the one known for being the choke artist!
Hey... the Patriots-Giants game was the biggest draw since Thanksgiving 1995. They played that game pretty close and Eli began his 'turn-around' then. If it weren't for a 'blown coverage' that gave the records to both Brady and Moss, they could have won that game. Now, they are playing again in the Super Bowl. It is a rather dramatic story, isn't it? The under-dog Manning, who hasn't been pressured all play-off long, against a Patriots team that has gone 18-0, with the Giants almost beating them, providing the Eli Manning turn-around that got them to where they needed to be.
The NFC play-offs have been fishy from this stand-point. The Cowboys didn't put any pressure on Manning. They didn't use any of their exotic blitz packages, despite forcing him into around 5 delay of game penalties the last game. They pretty much put up a 4 man-rush. Very strange, considering he is a consistent choke artist when you get in his face. Very strange, considering the effectiveness of the Cowboys front-line that game. The Giants then march down the field in 47 seconds. Wade Phillips just went vanilla the last month of December.
The Giants get all the calls.
And the Cowboys OL just 'folded' in a manner unknown throughout history. Crayton dropped passes, though he hasn't in years.
Teams have been allowing Manning to dink-and-dunk and to move the chains. He has been sacked a total of 4 times.
All of the sudden, he just turns it around...
