Lets say we have pick 5 on draft day and someone is in love with one of the QBs or Treadwell or whomever. How far would you be willing to drop down and what would it take?

Assuming we are at 5, I would trade down to say 15 or so for 2 seconds (or a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th) and I wouldn't be at all opposed to trading down from there either and getting even more picks. I know a lot of people would object to this... but we have been very good in the middle to the end of the round lately... not so good in the top 5 lol. Not to mention isn't that Bellicheat's draft strategy most years?

P.S. I would also do that because they way I see it we don't lack talent (except at RB... we really need a RB but that's not a position you draft in the top 5, or generally even in the first), we lack depth behind that talent. Dez and Romo are great this year, but them going down killed us (even before Romo went down he was struggling mightily without Dez), but we need some guys behind them to help them out. Our defense also ranks 6th in YPG and 16th in PPG (and before you go there, not many teams have been able to take their foot off the peddle, we were playing most teams very close without Romo) but they are getting tired towards the end, because it's hard for us to rotate in when we have nothing behind them. Depth is best gotten in the middle rounds (and free agency... I am really liking this years free agency pool to find Romo's replacement (much more than the draft class), give starter dollars to a backup... we got the money for it), let's fill up on depth in the middle rounds.

I'm not trading down. I'm taking the best talent available. You could have Bosa, Ramsey or someone else to be a cornerstone.

10th,that way you could still potentially land an extra 2nd whilst have a shot at either boss,Ramsey,Hargreaves,Treadwell or nkemdiche

I'd entertain a trade down to the 15-20 range wherever I was in the draft. I'd rather diversify the picks we get in the top 100, but if you go further than that, you're first pick is likely someone you have a second round grade on.

This is not the draft to trade out of the top 5. There are some true blue-chippers up front then it weakens pretty steadily after #10 or so.

Take BPA and move on, no need to get greedy this draft IMO.

yup.....been working on my 7 round mock....and this draft so far looks pretty week. If I'm sitting @ 5....I wouldn't be opposed to trading up and getting the DT from Ole' Miss. I have my sights set on Lynch....but getting a real impact DT would be tough to pass as well.

To me if there is no Bosa, or Ramsey I wouldn't be interested in a top five and would be willing to trade down to as low as 10-12. There I like Jack, Ragland, JSmith, Elliott, Billings and either Goff or Lynch though neither would be available.

I would be comfortable drafting Wentz with the additional #2 or Dobbs with a later pick as my QB.

Depends on how many players we have first round grades on.

Shallow talent pool for "true" 1st Rd players. Probably 15-17. With that said, would you trade out of those for a teams 1st, additional 2nd and future 1st? I know I would. Dropping to 20 you could probably get even more than that.

If we trade into the mid-teens, we should take Wentz. There's a lot of talent in the top 10 specifically:

Ramsey - potential elite FS, which we haven't had since Woodson.
Hargreaves - potential shutdown corner, which we haven't had since Sanders.
Lynch/Goff - potential next franchise QBs.
Nkemdiche - could make our DT position young and bright along with Crawford and Irving.
Bosa - beast DE who could immediately replace Lawrence.
Tunsil - could give us 5 Pro Bowl O-linemen
Smith/Jack - play maker WLBs, considering Lee's health and McClain head.
Treadwell - could give us an elite WR tandem.

These 10 guys have shown up in the top 10 in the majority of mock drafts I've seen over the past few months. They all play positions of need and would all be immediate contributors (except for the QBs if Romo plays a few more years). Only way I would pass up on one of these guys is if we got a killer trade and picked up Wentz in the mid-to-late 1st round.
