With a stroke of Jerry's ego and a pen, Dak Prescott finally has his name on a new contract extension. And for better or worse, he's no longer #1 on the hit list if/when the Cowboys stumble this year. He can't be, he's locked in. I truly hope Dallas takes the next step with Dak but with that pen stroke, Mike McCarthy has been put into the crosshairs of the Jerry Jones Firing Cannon. Mark the date down boys. Sept 8th, 2024. The new Dallas Cowboys coaching search has begun.
McCarthy will be resigned during the bye week. That was always the plan!

Parcells took a bad roster to the playoffs so imagine what he could have done with a good roster
I still believe we would’ve at least made it to the Super Bowl in 2007 had Parcells returned.

Not saying I agree with all this but here’s what Bill B had today recently about Dak:

Bob I’d be fine with the Dak contract if MM is out and Jerry hired BB. I believe that could be a winning combination because BB will change things for the better and he’s not coach who babies players. Jerry not going to hire BB because he isn’t a yes man and winning the championship is something Jerry has to get all the credit for no Jimmy Johnson vibes allowed

I watched this and I have high regard for Bill Belichick. I watched Montana/Rice...so I was trying to see if Bill was playing 4 dimensional chess and actually auditioning for the job by secretly undercutting Mike McCarthy. ("This is what I think of the talent you have gathered Jerry...only MM can't help you , I can...").

I've come to the conclusion it's not all hyperbole with Bill. Even me, a Dak hater, can see Dak's ability AT TIMES to be like Brady/Montana...particularly against weak NFC East opponents. Montana used to beat up on a weak, weak, weak NFC West for years...but he would beat the best teams when it mattered. The gap between Dak and Montana is the gap between a weekend warrior and Dak.

Imagine Mike McCarthy having your offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator both eyeballing your job.

100%

It is crystal clear that McCarthy is going to be the next body sacrificed on Prescott's altar. Zero doubt about that

I’m not a fan of hiring Bill Belechick. He’s 72 and even the great ones have an expiration date.
Same here. Rather go with some young talent however this talk is moot as I think MM will get an extension as well.

Agreed. And then Parson’s cashes in after that. The Big 3 will all get their contracts.

I would love to see a comparison of Montana or any Superbowl winning QB's stats for the playoffs compared to Dak's.

I haven't done the analysis, but I wonder what it would look like.

My premise here is who are the "clutch" players when the chips are down.

Stats for 3rd and long in the 4th quarter in a game winning drive.

Stats for once and done knowck out games - playoffs.

Stats for 4th quarter drives with a marginal lead that seals the win for the team.

What are his stats in "clutch" situations? I just don't have the time to compile this. ;)
Montana never lost a SB.
Dak has never played in a SB.
There's your comparison...lol

Joe Montana had Bill Walsh as a head coach.

Dak Prescott had Jason Garrett and Mike McCarthy.

There's your comparison.

For the record, Dak is not Joe Montana. But he's never had a competent NFL head coach either.
