Long time fan, first time poster here. Saturday night may give us a chance to see a LT who grew up a Cowboys fan, dreamed of playing for Dallas, 25 yrs. old and is in the final year of his contract - Jermon Bushrod of the Saints. The kid has potential and certainly has performed better than any prospects we have on the roster. Opinions?

If it's an uncapped year I'd bet on him being a RFA.

:hammer:
Bushrod has potential. Would be good to see how he would perform against DWare though.

wait wait... uncapped year means we can spend whatever we want on whoever we want... doesn't it?

he certainly has earned a shot

he's been in the system for 3 years (ssems to have gained functional, football playing strength during that time)

is athletic as hell

he sure would be a better option than getting a rookie to play LT

Yeah, welcome to the Zone and its a very intruiging question on a couple levels. First of all what I think we DO need is a young guy who is just coming into his own - a LT version of Miles Austin, if you will. Not a guy to start at either Tackle spot but to integrate himself into our OL and probably start the following year. We haven't been great at acquiring good OL through the draft, and that has to change. Ditto at WR...

But if it's uncapped it changes the FA rules, right?

Yes, teams can hold on to that player (free Agent to-be) for an additional year.

I think UFA goes from 4 years to 6.

You are correct, sir! Do you know Jammal Brown's contract status? I know that Bushrod is playing because Brown is on IR.

From Rotoworld.

Brown underwent sports hernia surgery in late August and then followed it up with an early September hip surgery. He was originally expected to return around mid-season. Brown obviously wasn't missed in the first two games, but his fill-in Jermon Bushrod injured his ankle against a pressuring Bills defense in Week 3. The Saints' best lineman, Brown is a free agent after the season and will likely be brought back on a relatively cheap, short-term deal.

Thank you Big Dakota. As a Sooners fan, I've seen Jammal Brown play in person many times. I hoped he would one day wear a Cowboys' uniform.
