Future Super Bowls

The Roman Numeral thing has been pretty cool looking to this point, with the Cowboys being in the coolest LOOKING super bowl, Super Bowl XXX. However, in the future, it's not going to be so cool.

Super Bowl Fifty will be one L of a Ballgame.

Super Bowl Fifty one will be a LI, a game of dishonesty.

Super Bowl Fifty four will be LIV, a game of survival.

Super Bowl Fifty nine will be LIX... I don't even want to discuss that one.

Actually this Super Bowl is the biggest Super Bowl there will ever be by Roman Numeral standards.

XL as in eXtra Large.

There is no XXL, that would be the aforementioned XXX.

So just remember this is the biggest of them all.

I've been saying this same thing for a few years, not so much about the aesthetics of the numerals, but about the diminishing importance these higher numbers will give to the game. When it was Super Bowl 3, or 11, or 19 there was some sense that it began recently and there havent been many and this game is one of those rare great ultimate games. But as we get into the 50's, 60's, 70's it will seem more and more as, oh just another game, we have seen scores of these things, ho hum.

Maybe, LXX and LX are more realistic.
