On offense, the team went as the OL went. Although not perfect the guard play was at a high level both halves. Center was problematic and outside of Collins, OT was not much better.

Collins played all but the last series of the first half. His quickness is more than adequate for RT but the timing of his hands is still a work in progress. Was not as aggressive as he finds his way but when he puts it together, look out.

Byron Bell is not overpowering but has some decent pop and is consistent. What stood out to me was his awareness and timing. Was quick to pass things off and is not fooled by blitzes or stunts. Nice first impression. Looks like a decent starter or an excellent backup. Intelligent player.

Looney disappointed after Broadus and Co talked him up. Nkemdiche routinely put him on skates. Want to see how he fares moving forward but he appears to have the same issue as last year. Maybe Nkemdiche is that good so well see.

Cooper has better pop than Bell but does not deal with quickness as well. Got beat cleanly on a slap and swim move and gave a free run. Was consistent outside of a few plays but I liked Bell better.

Emmett Cleary has no business playing LT his kick out is not NFL material. He was able to lunge and hold on for the most part but it has you at the edge of your seat. Struggled to make contact or sustain in the run game. On the initial wathoughts I had blamed the TE but closer examination exposed Cleary.

DeBord spent the evening being dominated by 54. Poor quickness, awareness, and power. He was beaten like a drum.

Theaker executed well on the seal and peel, reach blocks, securing LB on the second level, drive blocking, and stoned his man in pass pro. Excellent on the move. Showed poor aweness on E-T stunts completely missing the first and struggling with recognition and pass off after that. DeBord was no help.

Burbank was overpowered on combo blocks. Camp fodder.

Skipper played guard and exceeded my expectations. He gave up push for a few steps when submarine but was able to reset his feet due to surprising agility for a man his size. He has the feet to reach block. Showed decent power driving and good hands in pass protection.

Edwards was better at RT than left. He was beaten bad in space multiple times at LT in the second half. Also whiffed on several run blocks.

Moore had good protection aided by his quick decisions getting the ball out. His accuracy is remarkable. He is willing to take chances and throw it up to allow his receivers make a play on the ball. Worked out with Gathers not so much with Brown. Still not sold on his ability to complete the out, in, or comeback but feel better after seeing his pretty deep throws.

Rush had terrible protection with stunts that were not picked up and edges that resembled sieves. Showed remarkable poise in the face of that. Scored a TD in the face of an all out blitz and managed to escape pressure with his feet and a quick release. No sacks is notable on its own. Inconsistent accuracy throwing behind receivers occasionally but he appears to have a shot in the NFL.

Keith Smith displayed excellent hands snatching the ball such as to make TWill green and nice scoot turning upfield. Oh and when he strikes LB in the hole they still go backwards. Has been one of my favorite players watch develop. Pet cat.

DMac did not enjoy a lot of running room routinely met in the backfield and poa. Want to see him with better run blocking.

Morris did a good job taking nothing and making a whole lot out of it with notable burst, quickness, and moves. Lack of power shows up in pass protection where he still sells out and throws at the rush.

Smith makes quick decisions and hits the hole hard to good effect. Impressive power on third and short after Gathers gave him a second of daylight. Seemed to brain fart on a jailbreak on a stunt + twist but is hard to pinpoint given it was Theaker and DeBord in front.

Hillman was impossible to evaluate due to piss poor blocking allowing hits right after the handout and only getting a couple snaps.

Gathers started and played 4 quarters although he rotated. He ran good routes and showed excellent RAC ability. What surprised me was how well he blocked. He showed great hand placement picking up rushers in pass protection. Demonstrated a knack for picking up blocks on the move that showed up both in the run game and on ST where they have him playing on all 4 units acquitting him self well. He blocks the edge on both punts and FG. Was inconsistent blocking inline. Needs to work on timing his punch and sustain but did turn and seal a couple times as well. His development is outstanding. He's a better blocker than Escobar already. What's fun about him is he is an imposing figure put there where AZ defender gearing up to compete lined up opposite of him. Fun to watch.

Jarwin started and showed some pop inline and in space. Not a dynamic or explosive route runner. Definite PS candidate.

Hamlet rotated in and caught a pass. Weak blocking is all that stood out to me.

Butler demonstrated a nice ability to keep his speed when selling the in before going deep. Great acceleration blowing by AZ backups. The diving catch was pretty. Clearly has worked hard to become a more natural pass catcher.

Smith runs good routes but needs to be stronger at the point of catch. Was around the ball covering on ST.

Brown needs to do a better job playing off coverage downfield. Raw route runner. Smith is ahead for WR6 after 1 game.

Lenoir was not impressive as a returner or a receiver.

B Brown ran a nice out route and disappeared.

Nwachukwu ran out of the slot and showed no ability to block or get separation. The TD was on an all out blitz with only 1 defender in the middle of the field.

In fairness to the WR, the OL was not giving time for routes to develop in the second half. Look foward to seeing more.

Rico gonna have a transformational preseason just like DAK did last year. By week 3, look for Rico to score on offense and defense. He will come in at rde on third down passing situations and create those turnovers. I also look for Rico to have some stellar post game interviews. He will lead the league in memes and transform the internet.

Nice review.

I noticed Bell struggling with Nkemdiche more than I noticed Looney; although, I didn't focus much on Looney. Nkemdiche also gave La'el some trouble with his power on one snap.

Theaker showed decent physical ability.

I might prefer Skipper over Cleary at OT (Skipper played RT late after playing LG earlier).

I pointed Gilchrist out right after the game. He was very active.

Gilchrist is 48. He was good too but he cannot run well enough to be WILL or MIKE. He would be a dynamic SAM though with his rush ability.

43 is Joseph Jones out of Northwestern.

I intend to hit up defense tomorrow. Only thing I would add is 43. He keeps that up and he's making the team. Heck of an athlete out in space.

Yes. I thought Jones showed up the most out of any of the fringe LBs. Speed and aggression. I hope they give him a chance on special teams.

Sounds like Nkemdiche is flashing a lot more ability than Taco.
1. Nkemdiche is a DT or 3-4 DE.

2. Nkemdiche was a very high probability to get in trouble which is the only reason he was not a top 5 pick.

3. Nkemdiche has been in the NFL for a year longer than Taco. He was in the coaches dog house last year for being a knucklehead.

I thought the level of play was typically representative of what one might expect to see in a Hall of Fame game. The play was somewhat reasonably presented, considering that the starters were withheld for the most part. Yes, some of the play was sketchy, with some degree of mistakes and penalties marring the timely progress of the game at times.

Otherwise, it was highly competitive and entertaining with regards to rookie participation most likely being interesting to the fans of both teams, although quite possibly not so much for the fans of others. I enjoyed it mostly as being revealing about what the talent available had to offer.

I enjoyed the read, Fuzzy.

Anyone not think that a receiver group with: Dez Bryant, Cole Beasley, Brice Butler, Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Gathers, Ryan Switzer, Smith, Jason Witten, and Terrance Williams won't be anything but dominant?
