Bartel wants to show he's better than Bollinger

Quarterback Richard Bartel of Grapevine had an emotional weekend. He was released on Saturday and then thought he might sign with the Dolphins practice squad. That didn't work out and he re-signed with the Cowboys practice squad on Monday. But it may be only for a week because the Cowboys have interest in signing ex-Vikings QB Brooks Bollinger.

Bartel feels he improved and has made even progress for the Cowboys to keep him and is tired of worrying about hearing the Cowboys are bringing in another QB.

"I don't really care, bring them in for all I care," Bartel said. "I feel I have improved and right now I am very motivated. I would just like the opportunity to compare (with Bollinger)."

He's got the right attitude. He needs to keep that chip on his shoulder..

I think Bartel's days are limited if the Cowboys are willing to bring in a #3 QB into the active roster. It suggests they just don't think much of Bartel and would be willing to sacrifice a spot on the active roster to bring in a guy who really isn't much of a developmental candidate (6 years in the league already).

I like Bartel's attitude here. I hope he gets his chance to compare with Bollinger and is not just dumped unceremoniously. I liked his work in the last preseason game though it had been suspect prior to that.

Agree, 'sides. another year on the PS and he could take Johnson's place next year and compete with Bollinger for the #2 spot.

Good...For whatever it's worth, I think he's improved too. He looks more like an NFL QB.

Careful Big Dog. You'll have the pitch fork entourage accusing you of proclaiming him the next Roger Staubach.....................

i dont want bollinger, i would rather the cowboys keep bartel on the practice squad

and keep that spot open for another player that can help the team

unless the cowboys can get simms but still keep bartel

bartel might finally show something next year

its like the tom landry rule, you keep a player till his 3rd year, by then he has to show something to keep him on the roster,

im not saying bartel is as good as romo, but romo was on the team for 4 years before he became the starter

bartel to me will only might be a decent backup, but a good backup that knows our system
