Cowboys starting defense 2009

Let's examine the Cowboys' defensive reshuffle....There will be 4 new starters on defense at this point.

(Defensive line)

DE, Marcus Spears

NT, Jay Ratliff

DE, Igor Olshansky (replaces Chris Canty)

(Linebackers)

OLB, DeMarcus Ware

OLB, Greg Ellis/Anthony Spencer

ILB, Bradie James

ILB, Keith Brooking (replaces Zach Thomas)

CB, Terence Newman

CB, Mike Jenkins (replaces Anthony Henry)

FS, Orlando Scandrick??

SS, Ken Hamlin

* Scandrick (5-foot-10, 192 pounds) could be sliding from CB to FS after an impressive rookie season. He's a fearless player with solid coverage skills and extreme confidence but will need more strength and bulk in that role on the base defense.

Need more depth at LB, CB and safety. It would be nice to see Spencer have a big season.

That looks like a pretty good starting lineup to me.

The only weakness I see is at Safety where Hamlin isn't a big enough hitter to play SS and Scandrick is an unknown at FS. I expect us to pick up some depth for Safety before the season starts though.

That looks like a good lineup, but personally, I'd rather keep Scandrick at Corner... we've seen him play that position and we've seen him do it very well too. We don't know how a move to Safety would effect him.

I like that starting line-up better than last years.

My only concern is run defense, but our front sevent has been really good at stopping the run. It's one of the reasons why Roy hasn't looked as good over the last couple of years.

I'm going to enjoy watching Scandrick try and tackle guys like Brandon Jacobs if they move him to safety.

I'll buy this defensive line-up after the draft when Dallas does not pick a safety on day one.

jacobs is a load for any safety. As long as he doesn't go head-on or go high he will be ok.

Come on not to many players or should I say DBs tackle Jacobs one on one.

I have saw to many times Jacobs run over LBs let alone smaller DBs.

Jacobs is 250lbs and runs a 4.4 with power, not too many players can stop him one on one in the open field unless you go low and I mean low.......

Which is why it will be even more comical to see Scandrick try. We all had a good laugh when LaRon Landry got trucked.

I don't know about Jacobs running a 4.4 though, and he weighs closer to 265 than 250.

I'm pretty sure if Jacobs can run over Landry like he did, he will run over probably every DB in the league, honestly theirs not one DB in the league I will take one on one over Jacobs.....

Jacobs wins that battle over any DB in the league
