Bradie James talked about rookie linebacker Jason Williams yesterday, saying the kid has the potential to be good at this position. Here's what Williams had to say about the challenge of meeting expectations:

"Being challenged by someone like Brady, that’s an honor in itself. He’s trying to bring it hard out of me and hopefully I can do him proud."

On his first week of camp: "Things are getting better every day for me. I got those first couple good licks out of the way; I’m pretty level-headed now. I'm just trying to keep going at this point. I’m not game-ready at this point. I have a lot to learn."

I'm really starting to like Jason. In couple years he could be a good one.

Me too, seems like he's got a great head on his shoulders. But.. this year I've really been trying to limit my expectations and excitement over these kinds of articles. Tired of being disappointed.

(Sorry, don't mean to be the downer in this thread)

WG, thanks as always for all your hard work posting dozens of articles daily. It's greatly appreciated.

I am really loving this draft.

There are only two guys that won't make this team, IMO...Brewster (obvious) and Johnson.

Jason Williams
Victor Butler
Brandon Williams
Deangelo Smith
Mike Hamlin
David Buehler
Stephen Hodge
Mike Mickens

All of these players will contribute a great deal to the team in STs or as valued backups.

McGee and Phillips will both make the team.

This was a fine draft. If Butler and both Williams continue their progress it may be one of Jerry's best draft classes ever.

I am really anxiouse to hear good news about Jason Williams. I thinkt he fact that B. Carpenter is actually have a solid camp up to this point is hurting him a little bit. I know he is raw but I would have rather he walked right into the nickle linebacker role. I guess if he cant beat out Carpenter though, he needs a lot of work (of Carpenter finally woke up).

*This post was meant in a positive way. Not a knock to Williams or Carpenter.

I love how people are jumping on this bandwagon.

On draft day it was "who the hell did we just take???" or "NOOOOOOOOO"

:lmao:
