Keep your eye on ...
Cowboys defensive end Jason Hatcher. Cowboys coach Wade Phillips singled him out today at the Cowboys coaches clinic, and this may be the time that Hatcher pushes Marcus Spears for the starting defensive end job.
A former third round pick out of Grambling, Hatcher has been used primarily as a pass rusher, but he has the itch to be a three-down player ... which makes him no different than any other player. If Hatcher gets the chance to play the run and produces, Spears very well could find himself on the bench.
Hatcher is more of the pass-rushing type Phillips likes, whereas Spears' run-stuffing body type fit the mold that former Cowboys coach Bill Parcells preferred.

This and That from Monday
* The Cowboys have not signed any more of their draft picks; cornerback Orlando Scandrick remains the only player signed.
Don't sweat it yet. The Cowboys always wait until the last minute before they sign their draft picks, but there hasn't been a prolonged hassle in forever.
* There is no conclusion to the Terry Glenn saga, either. Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said he didn't know anything about that (suuuuuuure you don't), but that he hopes he's with the team.
Don't fall out of bed when Glenn and the Cowboys come to an agreement so he can try to come back and still earn a fat check.
* The high temperature in Oxnard, Calif., for the Cowboys first day of full practice on Friday is forecast to be ... 77 degrees. Seventy-seven degrees, in July.

Wade Wows 'Em
Gotta hand it to Cowboys coach Wade Phillips. The guy comes across as a soft-talkin', laid-back, aw-shucks farmer, but when pressed he can actually hold a room.
Phillips was the "keynote" speaker at the Cowboys' annual free coaches clinic held today at Texas Stadium.
He stood up in front of the room behind a podium and threw out countless coaching cliches, but you can tell this actually means something to him and that he's not here because it's in his contract.
Bill Parcells never attended this thing.
But there was Wade, stressing the fundamentals of football such as footwork, teaching proper technique, etc.
Texas football is very important part of the family in the Phillips' house, so handing out some free advice to young coaches is something that he enjoys.
And among the hoots and hollers from the coaches as they ate their free lunch and waited for Phillips to commence his speech, the Cowboys coach chimed in with "Get the ring hand ready."
