Ken "Next Question" Hamlin defends Wade

Cowboys Pro Bowl free safety Ken Hamlin was not in the mood to answer questions about the status of his head coach Wade Phillips in the locker room Monday.

He offered several "Next Question" answers Drew Rosenhaus-style to inquiries about Wade' job security as he defended his coach and was really puzzled why these questions are coming up.

"It doesn't make any sense," Hamlin said.

Well, Hamlin...when you are on a team with Super Bowl expectations and have lost three of your last four and are sprialing downhill it becomes a legitimate question.

Execution is the problem
What did Dorothy and Toto gleam from today's media session with the players on Monday?

"Execution," safety Ken Hamlin said.

"We gotta execute," defensive end Marcus Spears said.

And it's not Wade Phillips' fault.

Other than that, everything is fine with the Cowboys - 4-3 and headed towards 13-3.

Kan Hamlin needs to shut his mouth, because he is flat-out sucking up the joint. This defense has no business defending or blasting Wade, because they aren't even doing their jobs when they are near the play.

What did he say? No comment on Wade's job status. That we have to execute?

Are you really bashing him for that?

See, Mac, this is why we can't stand you guys. It's one thing to report what was said in the locker room. It's another to inject your own personal snide remarks because the players didn't answer the question the way YOU wanted them to.

Hamlin Heads Off Coach Questions
Posted by jellis at 10/20/2008 12:28 PM CDT
Cowboys safety Ken Hamlin sees one reason the Cowboys have lost three of their last four games, and it isn't a lack of leadership, or distractions, or a meddling owner, or a softie coach. The perceived lack of intensity isn't really the case and the team isn't divided, according to Hamlin.

There's one reason for the problems of late: Execution.

The Cowboys simply haven't taken care of their assignments individually the last month, and the one loss to Washington at the end of September snowballed into three, real fast. Hamlin didn't want to hear the question that was bound to get asked after such an ugly loss.

Should Wade Phillips' job be on the line?

"Why is this question being asked," Hamlin said. "It doesn't make any sense. We lost a couple games or whatever, but what does that have to do with his job? He's doing a good job. It doesn't even make sense for ya'll to come up with that type of question. If those are the questions you're about to ask me we can end this now.

"We've got to play better. We've got to execute better."

When asked whether there was any thought of replacing Phillips, Jerry Jones reply Sunday was "Emphatically no."

So, according to Hamlin and Spears, the reason the team is playing poorly is the players are incompetent in not being able to execute their assignments for the last 5 weeks.

Okay...if they say so.

Exactly. Players understand when they went out and did not do their jobs. evidently we have some fans that this is a video game controlled by people standing on the sidelines. It is not when players are over running plays that is on the player and the player knows it. Zack Thomas blowing some easy tackles was on Zack not Wade or Steward and they are men enough to stand up and say what is obviouse. Caoches do not teach what these players were screwing up on this is basic stuff that they did poorly in executing

What they are saying is the only reason they are losing is because they aren't running the perfectly run game-plan that Brian Stewart is coming up with... It is BS... They are scrubbing from every angle. Even when they execute, they can't freakin' tackle...

If everyone that is sucking shut up no one would talk to the media......which would probably be a good thing at this point.

Exactly... This team needs to focus on what needs to be corrected, instead of worrying about their precious little image before the media. They are more worried about correcting media perception than correcting their own faults.
And people can't tell this is all speculation, because this team consistently makes the same mistakes over and over again.

Stop crying about the media and play damn football... Make freakin' plays on the football field, than get your glory...

Well two things come to mind about it being wades fault.

1). Isnt it the coaches fault to make sure the team plays at peak efficiency? If not the head coaches fault, whos fault is it?

2) You cant fire 53 players, so even if it is the players fault, the coach is gunna pay the price, with his head.

Get em together Wade or lose your job. You may last this year, but if things dont get better quickly, your gone next year for sure.

Wade was gone next year regardless of what happened this season. He probably knows that, so what incentive do he and Stewart really have at this point? There coaching careers are over, unless Al Davis hires them.....

Reminds me of the old John McKay quote when asked of the execution of his Tampa Bay Bucs. "Yes I'm in favor of it." :)
