FWST Blog: New Cowboys jersey numbers

Here's what I'm curious about.

Will Pacman wear "P. Jones" on the back of his jersey like he did at Tennessee, or "A. Jones"?

I'm sure I'm not the only one noticing "Adam" being used more and more by people like Jerry, presumably to signify his fresh start here as a changed man.

Maybe Jerry and Pacman reach a compromise and just go with "Jones".

I'd rather see A. Jones but he can't go with just Jones because of some guy named Felix. :D

I thought I saw that McFadden was 28 also... Wonder if they did that on purpose.

I'd rather see "P. Jones", just because I love his nickname and don't want to see it dissolve. "Adam Jones" is just so plain. :)

And you're wrong about him not being able to wear just "Jones". Tom Brady had just "Brady" on the back of his jersey last year, despite Kyle Brady being a teammate.

IMO he needs to drop the nickname. There's too much baggage.

I thought it was a league rule that if players had the same last name they had to put the initial on it also. You learn something new every day.

so i'll be able to alter my jj jersey, but not sure i'll want to be wearing a pacman one unless of course he stays out of trouble.

I would prefer P. Jones as well, that nick-name is a classic. Definetly #21 though, P. Jones will look cool in the silver and blue.

True but Primetime was clearly a nickname, some people actually think Pacman is Jones' real name lol.

I thought the same until I saw Brady's jersey this year. But it's possible that Brady was given an exception due to his poster-boy status.

Nobody can have the same name on the back. Like lets say there was also a jerry jones playing on our team and julius stayed. Adam could wear Jones on the back. But Felix would have to wear F. Jones, and Jerry would have to wear J. Jones, and Julius would have to wear Ju. Jones. If all that makes sense. And sometimes it can come down to the player's choice as long as there aren't any conflicts. Like E. Smith, there were years in there that there was not another Smith on the team, but stuck with E. Smith anyway.

They changed that rule... It's now optional for players to have an initial on their jersey. So you can have two or three players with Jones on the back now.

You're right. Both Tom and Kyle Brady had "Brady" on their jerseys last year.

FYI, the Cowboys don't retire jerseys. Nobody will wear 22 for a while, though. They have sort of a "temporarily retired" thing going on.
