No panic from Cowboys owner
Not only are the Cowboys winless in the preseason, but they have not played well as a team in either game against San Diego or Denver.
However, there’s no panic inside the team’s Valley Ranch headquarters.
Owner Jerry Jones said the Cowboys’ subpar play to date is no big deal.Jones learned the hard way as a first year owner in 1989 that preseason outcomes mean little as far as the regular season is concerned.
They had a 3-1 record including a overtime victory against John Elway and the Denver Broncos before going 1-15 in the regular season in 1989.
"Absolutely the best I ever felt in preseason was my first year and we went 3-1," Jones said. "We thought we had this thing figured out and we won one in the regular season. That’s the best I ever felt. In the 1990s, when we won six division titles, we never had a winning record. I know others can get real excited about it. It’s real hard for me to get excited about it."
Now, Jones said if the kinds of things like penalties and poor execution continue to be a problem then it will be a concern because those are things that get you beat in the regular season.
