Cowboys/Broncos Practice No. 1
The Cowboys and Broncos didn't exactly stage a fierce blood bath in practice today, but the Cowboys did see more contact and hitting in a practice than they have in some time.
* The star of the day was receiver Terrell Owens, who consistently burned the Broncos secondary in passing drills. Granted, the Broncos kept out All-Pro defensive back Champ Bailey because of a sore hamstring, so Owens focused on abusing cornerback Dominique Foxworthy all day.
* The first-team offensive line didn't win a lot of style points in a 9-7 drill early on. Starting running back Marion Barber was routinely stuffed at the line, and during the drill the only guy to make any real progress was Felix Jones on a nice cut back run.
* Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall did have a nice long reception from quarterback Jay Cutler against Adam Jones in one drill as well.
* And, yes, the team's hit quite a bit this morning. Like I said, this wasn't some heated rivalry as both teams kept emotions in check all morning, but there was actual hitting.
* Backup quarterback Brad Johnson had a repeat of one of the most famous plays of his career when his pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage and he caught it and then briefly ran with it. You may remember when he was the quarterback for the Vikings in a game in 1997 against the Panthers, Johnson's pass was tipped at the line, he caught it and ran it in for a 3-yard touchdown pass.
* Danny Amendola continues to receive quite a few opportunities to make his mark as a punt returner, but the job clearly belongs to Adam Jones and Patrick Crayton.
