Roy Williams on Lubbock, Texas Tech, etc.

Roy Williams was originally recruited by Texas Tech coach Mike Leach and Texas coach Mack Brown, and Williams didn't believe Leach when he said he'd catch 100 passes a season if he came to play for him in Lubbock.

"I didn't believe him. But I probably would have had 100 balls a year," Williams said. "He's different. But he's cool."

Williams wanted a shot at a national title so he went to Austin. Williams is an avid UT fan/alum and he sounds confident that his 'Horns will defeat the Red Raiders on Saturday night in Lubbock.
But weird things have a tendency to happen in Lubbock.

"The referees cheat," Williams said of playing in Lubbock. "They just cheat. They don't call the calls when they are there to be made."

Williams is a bitter man about a loss when UT lost against the Red Raiders in 2002. Williams was a member of that team. That is the only time Leach has defeated the Longhorns.

Former UT offensive lineman turned Cowboys guard Leonard Davis has the 'Horns winning by a little less than 10 points.

Williams is right....the refs cheat their butts off in Lubbock....almost as much as they do in Norman.

You'd cheat too if a pirate stormed your dressing room, just prior to kickoff and threatened to "hang ye from the yardarm", unless calls went their way!
