Williams still in limbo

Safety Roy Williams is still a member of the Cowboys, despite the team shoppping him across the league in a trade. And despite him asking for his release.

According to a Cowboys source, the team has not found a trading partner and is not in a rush to do anything.

Williams' agent Jordan Woy,who said on Tuesday that the Cowboys were working on a trade for his client, is remaining patient.

He said the two sides are working together on a few things to hopefully make everybody happy but declined to elaborate.

Burnett heading to Houston

Cowboys unrestricted free agent linebacker Kevin Burnett felt so good about his situation in San Diego Wednesday that he drove around town with the Chargers defensive coordinator looking for houses while his agent talked contract terms.

However the two sides have yet to come to an agreement, prompting Burnett to keep his plans of flying to Houston on Thursday to visit with the Texans. He remains interested in the Chargers because it's close to his hometown of Los Angeles.

But unless a deal was struck late last night, Burnett said he will move to the third phase of his free agent shopping trip. He spent Monday night and Tuesday morning with the Oakland Raiders before flying to San Diego late Tuesday evening. The Texans are next up for Burnett, who is seeking an opportunity to start after being largely a nickel linebacker and special teams player in Dallas.

To me that says re-working the deal and he stays.

I hope, I hope.

That's what it sounds like to me too.

Either that or re-working his contract to facilitate a trade.

But I'm with you at this point, I'd rather he re-work his deal to remain a Cowboy and hopefully get his career back on track.

Ultimately, I'd like to see another season here from him while at the same time bringing in a young guy to potentially push both him and Hamlin. Although if he plans another family vacation during OTAs, I'm going ballistic

I'd be happy if we could rework his deal and bring him back, but things don't look good right now. The Anthony Henry trade increased his chances of returning, but I think he will have to play for a lot less money than he wants in Dallas. The Cowboys can't afford to overpay for a 2 down safety.

RW38 doesn't seem like one to re-work a contract, unless he has come to his senses and realizes that he won't get more on the open market. However, if motivation was a problem with him before, how motivated will he be to play for a team after demanding that they cut him or trade him? :(

It's a shame that some us want Roy to pack his bags. I mean, talk about bad luck and timing for poor Roy.

He starts the season with our entire defense playing terrible. Breaks his arm TWICE and misses the rest of the season. Brian Stewart is running the defense while Roy is playing mind you. The first game Roy is out, Wade takes over the playcalling and our defense balls out of control. Is is a coincidence? I think so

So, my question is...if Roy stays healthy the whole year and our defense plays like they did WITH Roy last year, you still want him gone? Or you bring him back? He's getting the bashing because he played while our entire defense was terrible, but missed when our defense was ballin. I think that's a coincidence because the defense played great with Killa at SS. Roy couldn't do what Killa did?

I'm really leaning on wanting to being Roy back while Wade is calling the defense. I still draft a S high though.

Realistically, theres no better option out there. If he'll restructure his contract, why not keep him.

If we could hide Keith Davis in coverage, I don't see why we couldn't hide Roy, too. Especially in a limited role.

Restructure doesn't mean take less money. It means he is willing to redo the contract to free up cap space but that usually requires giving the player a chunk of money upfront so you can spead it out over the life of the deal. Thats ain't happening with RW. If he wants to stay, he needs to say "I'm willing to redo my contract and take less money because I realize how bad I have played since getting paid."

Exactly! Roy can't do what Keith did? I highly doubt that.

Bring him back!!!

In other words, Burnett's finding out teams don't want to pay big $ to a role player.

I like the flexibility he provides in going to a 3 safety dime, rather than a 3 corner dime.
