The Need For Jay Ratliff
Watching the defensive front of the Cowboys and it's become rather apparent, quickly, that they need Jay Ratliff. Ratliff is sitting this game out.
Tank Johnson has not made the impact the Cowboys envisioned when they signed him, and then patiently waited for him to complete his eight-game suspension. The Cowboys thought he would eventually start and replace Ratliff, but it's clear he's not the player.
On the Clinton Portis touchdown run, Johnson was easily handled and pushed around. He just may not be the right fit for this scheme.
He played in a slightly different 3-4 scheme with the Bears, and that may be the best system for him. He has not done much this season.

Tank Johnson not making plays
Cowboys nose tackle Tank Johnson is making his first start but he's not doing much for clogging up the run. To his credit he is getting double-teamed often. But the Commanders are running it right through the Cowboys defense behind Clinton Portis.
Johnson is starting for injured Jay Ratliff.
Portis had seven carries for 40 yards in the first quarter including a 23-yard touchdown.
