Staubach or Not Staubach
Cowboys coach Wade Phillips compared quarterback Tony Romo to team legend Roger Staubach following Sunday's game against the Rams. Team PR director Rich Dalrymple, probably trying to stem what is already an out of control media blitz of Romo, told Phillips that he probably shouldn't have said Staubach.
But Phillips said he would be the best one to make that comparision because he is probably the only coach in the league who coached against Staubach.

Spears arrives
Defensive end Marcus Spears raised more than a few eyebrows in the offseason when he criticized former Coach Bill Parcells for his conservative defensive philosophy. Spears blamed Parcells' schemes for his lack of impactful play since coming to the team as a first round draft pick in 2005.
He welcomed new coach Wade Phillips' aggressive 3-4, which allowed him to rush the quarterback and stop the run on the way. Well through three games Spears hadn't produced as he expected. But on Sunday against Rams, he had what coach Wade Phillips said was his best game.
"He had half a sack on the sack, but he hit the quarterback about three times when he was throwing the ball," Phillips said. "He had about three hurries. He had a tackle for a loss, those kind of things. He really hustled to the ball. He really played all out. That’s what I thought he could do. And that’s what he’s done."

Wearing them out
The Cowboys have not only beat teams this season but they have beat them up.
Consider the injury lists of the Bears and Rams the past two weeks.
Cornerback Nathan Vasher, guard Reuben Brown, defensive tackle Tommie Harris and linebacker Lance Briggs _ all former Pro Bowlers _ all left the 34-10 drubbing with injuries.
In Sunday's 35-7 victory, five Rams were listed on the post game injured list, including guard Adam Goldberg, linebacker Raonnal Smith, receiver Isaac Bruce, defensive end Leonard Little and safety Corey Chavous.
And this comes after Miami lost lost Pro Bowl linebacker Zach Thomas to a concusion in the Week two blowout. The Cowboys set to the tone of adding injury to insult in what is becoming weekly routs by sending four Giants to the sidelines in the 45-35 season opening victory. That list included quarterback Eli Manning, running back Brandon Jacobs, cornerback Kevin Dockery and defensive end Osi Umenyiora.
