Not much to this, but I do appreciate the fact that some do appreciate the significance of the ball cap. Do not even get me started on the stocking cap. That is the most insolent.

Cardinals can teach ’Boys how to be men
By RAY BUCKrbuck@star-telegram.com

FIRST SHOT: What can the Dallas Cowboys learn from the Arizona Cardinals?

Answer: That a team with a bad owner can still go to the Super Bowl ... if it hires a good coach.

— Randy Mosier, Keller

BUCKSHOT: Ken Whisenhunt has been a genius — what — for three or four weeks now?

SECOND SHOT: Upon hearing the heartening news that Tony Romo declared he would be a better leader, I was sorely disappointed in the Star-Telegram for not running a photo of Tony with his cap turned forward to show how serious he is in being a team leader.

What an inspiration for the team and Cowboys fans everywhere.

So, Buck, do you agree?

— Doug Page, Granbury

BUCKSHOT: Actually, it’s Romo’s head that’s on backward, not his cap, when it comes December.

THIRD SHOT: The Cardinals show you have to go out and take it. But, first, you must believe you can take it.

That takes firm, no-nonsense leadership at quarterback ... something Romo can, and must, provide.

I think Kurt Warner will make a great coach when he retires. Tony should seek him out this spring, maybe get in a few rounds of golf while talking some football.

— Mike Sutton, Lewisville

BUCKSHOT: Didn’t the last QB who tried something like that end up carrying Romo’s bag?

FOURTH SHOT: Too bad the Cowboys don’t understand how to finish a season. The Arizona Cardinals picked themselves up after a very bad [Dec. 21] loss to the Patriots, "found" themselves, finished 9-7, and are now in the Super Bowl.

Leadership is what the Cowboys must find now.

Tony, wake up and earn your salary. Get rid of that hat and put the brain in gear.

— Tom Batz, Keller

BUCKSHOT: Can we all get along with Romo’s head coverings?

FIFTH SHOT: Here’s what the Cowboys can learn from the Steelers and Cardinals: The season doesn’t end at the first sign of difficulty. Good players don’t make a team, but rather teams make good players.

From Arizona, in particular, they can learn that [former Cowboys assistants] Todd Haley and Clancy Pendergast CAN coach ... and just being the Dallas Cowboys doesn’t give you entitlement.

— David Glick, Las Colinas

BUCKSHOT: You’re preaching to the choir, brother.

SIXTH SHOT: What can we learn from the Cardinals? That the Cowboys should’ve left the NFC East for a weaker division.

— John Olthoff, Seagoville

BUCKSHOT: Bingo. Pick up your books and move to the front of the class.

LAST SHOT: It’s time for T.O., Romo, Crayton, et al, to put all the whining about [Jason Garrett’s] scheme to rest. Tell them a bedtime story: "Once upon a time, such a long, long time ago ..."

— John Scroggin, Post Falls, Idaho

BUCKSHOT: They lose, we snooze.

Funny how a team that also played like crap down the stretch to finished 9-7,got a 40 point beatdown, and has a receiver being a drama queen can be such role models

Oh wait! They're not the Cowboys??

Cowboys were expected to go far and failed to do so, you may as well just deal with all the shots that will be fired at the Cowboys because they are not going to stop until the team proves otherwise

Kill me now. The media are praising the friggin' Cardinals.

I so wanted Kurt Warner over Vinny in 2004. :moon: to all of you clowns who were in my face over that.

I gotta throw up. The Cardinals being praised as an example. It's too much.

Oh the irony. If Dallas had made it to the Super Bowl after playing poorly in December with a 9-7 record, everyone would be saying they that they got lucky and don't belong in the Super Bowl. But the Cardinals are praised as the team the Boyz should model themselves after. Whatever.

I hope they win on Sunday, but trust me, if the Cowboys were in the same boat, the mediots would find something to criticize. Not that we would care, but they'd be taking their shots as usual. For some reason, Boldin isn't getting the TO treatment for the same behavior. Go figure.

Unlike Owens, Boldin has always been a model player and teammate. That's why he gets the benefit of the doubt. I don't understand why that is a struggle for some to comprehend.

Probably because Boldin isn't on his 3rd team and hasn't completely crapped on 2 quality QBs and a few coaches.

Because is reassuring to believe that there is a media bias.

The same behavior?

I don't remember ever seeing TO act out in Dallas as much or to the level as Boldin did, .. nor do I ever recall seeing him provoke a Dallas coach to the point that he responded to the level that Haley did for AZ.

Owens has done it plenty, and Haley has a rep for "not backing down".

I see probably 90% of Dallas' games, I don't remember it ever escalating to that level.

Basically my exact reaction. If the Cardinals didn't play in the weakest division in football, none of us would know what a genius their coach is. They were dismal and rightly left for dead in December. Funny what problems winning can cure.

No, not "Whatever!". You hint upon a great point: that the Dallas Cowboys are loved to be hated by the media. So what? That's not the problem; that's just the condition players have to accept, learn to deal with, and use in their favor when they come here. Our players were WRONG to WHINE about it. It's like the media handed them a rope and they placed it around their necks and jumped off their chairs, as opposed to kindly saying "thanks but we've got more pride than that".

The bottom line is that it takes a great deal more maturity to win in Dallas than in most other NFL cities, which is why AZ was excused for playing poorly in December and Dallas was criticised more and more with each passing game. And insteasd of our players embracing that pressure they crumbled under it - AGAIN!. Sorry, that's not acceptible when you decide to play in Dallas; these players SHOULD know better.

Exactly! But at the same time, both teams went 9-7. It's just that one decided to pull together and the other collapsed as usual. *Cough*

How many guys on the current roster decided to be a Dallas Cowboy? Most players end up wherever they end up. I agree that they have to accept it and meet the challenge once they get here, though.
