The Cowboys aren't expecting Tony Romo (fractured collarbone) back until Week 16.

Previous reports have indicated that Week 14 was possible but Week 15 was more likely, so this projection has been the most dire to date. Romo was able to throw Sunday for the first time since the injury, but an X-ray showed the bone to still be broken. It's certainly possible we might not see him at all again this year, but owner Jerry Jones has indicated he'd like Romo to play late in the year even if the team was out of the playoff picture.

I think a week 16 Romo showing is of no use to this team, other than maybe ticket sales. Put him on IR and bring in a PS player to evaluate for next year.

I agree.

If you're looking at the possibility of getting a week, maybe two by putting him back out there, why bother?

The bone is still cracked, why risk injury for meaningless wins which will only serve to lower your draft pick for 2011?

This team has more pressing needs to address for this year and next.

No use?

Yes, certainly we wouldn't want to finish strong and have Romo build something with young receivers like Dez.

They should have IR'd him already and brought up a pactice squad guy or someone off the street.

Seriously, who cares?

'Finish strong', and screw up your draft pick, great idea. Sounds like a terrific loser's mantra.

Two meaningless games are gonna mean more than an entire offseason?

No, they're not.

Not close.

If it really is projected to be week 16, once we are mathmatically eliminated I think he will be put on IR.

I agree.

Winners only want to lose games for draft picks!!!!!!!!

I'm not suggesting tanking anything but I certainly would bring Romo back and put him at risk for 'moral victories' that only serve to lower your draft pick.

Even if this team were to win out, the playoff chances are slim.

And if that were to happen, would you really want to replace what would then be a 'hot hand' in Kitna at quarterback?

Bringing back Romo for a few games doesn't necessarily mean success. Romo is going to be a little rusty coming off the injury and will have an adjustment period getting back up to speed. If anything, an argument can be made that bringing Romo back for a game or two is more of a detriment than anything else in the development of Dez.

If that is the case, better take of the rust this year than next.

You know who worries about draft status when there are games still left?

Teams that NEVER get any better.

"An argument can be made" does not mean that it is a good argument. This isn't such a long layoff that it will take Romo weeks to get back from it.

It's also not a long enough period of time where there will be any level of improvement gained by putting him back on the field either.

I think the only reason to play Romo in the last few games is so that Jerry can salvage the season by at least making some money off of him.

Otherwise, what for? Two games?

The way Kitna has filled in for Romo, he deserves to finish what he's started. Kitna has done a damn good job and yanking him for a rusty Romo just because is downright disrespectful.

Huh? We are massively better with a rusty Romo than with Kitna at his best.

maybe since there won't be a season in 2011 they want to get him some work.

are you kidding me?

Week 16, Phillys in a must win game to get that WC spot (or even for the divison lead). You still think Romo is no use?

SPOILERS.
