Delhomme was an NFLE guy who had been "cut 3 times" and didnt even start game 1 for the Panthers after signing.

He went to a team with a great OL, very good WR corps and awesome RBs.

He was a friggin BUS DRIVER. He had all of 19 TDs on the season and a QB rating of 80. He was eerily similar to QC in 2003. Last season he played better but the team was worse and they went no where. Losing running backs and WRs tend to do that to a team.

I would also love to have Leftwich here. He was clearly a true talent at the position and only injuries kept him from being a top 5 pick IMHO. BUT its not like TNewman isn't needed here or has been a bust.

It is VERY possible that Bledsoe has a better year than either guy. A lot will depend on the teams around them and the success of the offenses they execute. Dallas getting so much deeper at WR/RB will really help as does Rivera on the OL.

Bledsoe is a pocket guy that will light it up but the hits add up on him because he stays in there and completes passes under pressure. He needs a coach to control those hits. He is not some infallible guy that answers all questions but he is pretty good by NFL standards and will show that this season IMHO.

If you put Delhomme or Leftwich on last season's team they still weren't going to the playoffs. And they would be getting plenty of criticism right now.

The final decision was made by Parcells that cornerback Terence Newman would be the choice for the Cowboys.

Parcells worried over Leftwich’s lack of mobility.

If true, it’s kinda funny. Last year, there was Vinny. This year, there’s Drew Bledsoe. Mobility?

Parcells is the best thing to happen to the Cowboys since The Jimster left town.

But, man, his quarterback rating is pitiful.

Did it ever dawn on this creep that our team needed a total overhaul? Tying up big money in a QB that may or may not cut it would be silly when we needed a whole lot of pieces at the time before even thinking about being competitive. Yeah we went to the playoffs Bill's first year but we staggered in and our defense was well exposed for what it was by then.

We needed to get the necessary parts in order to be competitive throughout a whole season and although the sexy choice would have been to grab anyone one of the above mentioned QB's, they would've been destroyed behind our terrible line (especially Leftwich). Our team was so much in need in so many other places that it is likely JD or BL would not have been the same players that we see today if they had suited up for us.

All of that wonderful cap space we had recently would've disappeared faster if we would've heave signed any of the above QB's. While we experimented with the QC's and CH's of the league we built up the rest of our team.

Drew Beldsoe is a solid QB in the right system. He is the most solid choice we've had in a while. If he can be solid for us. That's all we need right now because we have a stud RB, a scary defense in the making and a mastermind (whom I've had the nerve to call "Lazy" once upon a time) at the helm.

I like where we are right now.

Let's let it play out.

Back in 2003, I thought the real mistake was not signing Stephen Davis.

I was on that line of thinking as well. Now that I remember correctly, my foot tasted better with salt and vinegar.

Funny how many so-called experts are ready to say Joey Harrington is a bust, but think Leftwich is up and coming. To me both have been nothing specila to this point. It's hard to say we made a mistake on Leftwich, when we will never know if he will be any more than an average, overweight, probably injury prone starting QB. (the added weight will eventually cause his body to breakdown)

As far as Delhomme goes, yes, he probably would have worked out well enough, but at this point, there is no doubt in my mind Bledsoe has a stronger arm and is a better passer than Delhomme. So, if we keep the pressure off of him, Bledsoe will perform better than Delhomme would have. And, at the end of the season, I think we will see that Bledsoe is better than Delhomme, and much better than Leftwich.

Randy Galloway is an idiot, thats all there is to it. Sometimes he shows his stupidity just to get people riled up to read him. Even if you disagree you still read his mindless drivel.
He is constantly saying Jerry Jones should "Go back up to Stupidity Mountain and let Jimmy Johnson run the team" The fact is like him or not Jerry Jones spent the money to get coaches and players in here to win 3 Super Bowls in 4 years and with out him it would not have happened.
And yes, hindsight is 20/20. Sure if we had a crystal ball to predict the future things would be totally different now.
Even if Bum Bright would have brought in Jimmy Johnson then he would not have gave Jimmy an unlimited payroll to get coaches and players here.
This is not to say that Jimmy Johnson was not a good coach just that with out spending the money for players it would have never happened. That is why it was so difficult for Tom Landry, (also a decent coach) he had a very limited payroll to work with.
Jerry Jones spent the money to make the Cowboys a dominant team in the early 90's. With salary caps it is more difficult but he is still trying to win. Jerry Jones also bought the team for approx 180 million and now with the new stadium he stuck on us "his" team is worth over a billion dollars. Who is the idiot? Jerry Jones or Randy Galloway? You may not like Jerry Jones but da boy ain't stupid!
Plus you saw how Jimmy Johnson did in Miami when they gave him complete control over the players and coaching.
My opinion of Randy Galloway is he is an idiot. You can agrue with an idiot all day long and at the end of the day he is still stupid. No amount of argueing with him will make him any smarter.
It is really sad to hear Randy Galloway talk about hockey. You can tell he knows nothing about the game yet he insists on giving his "proffesional" opinion of what the Stars need and how to play the game.
While I feel sorry for stupid people, the opinion of an idiot does not mean much to me. Curly

Byron Leftwich ... morbidly obese.
That's a ridiculous statement...the guy is in good shape, and the kid can move surprisingly well...obese is a ridiculous statement.

He's not even fat...ever hear of Sonny Jurgenson?

True. But it's also a bit silly (don't you think?) to be forever moaning about the one(s) that got away, particularly when we appear to have just come off an off-season in which he hauled in a bountiful catch.
Yes, it is silly to bemoan the ones who got away...but sometimes one has to stand up and discuss these guys when homers post ridiculous diatribes against them...I get just as irritated when some Cowboys posters try to argue that McNabb is not a good QB, when in fact, he is a great one.

A well-known, long-lost poster called "ThaGame" and I loudly called for Dallas to sign Delhomme in 2003.

When that didn't happen, several of us desperately wanted Leftwich in the draft.

Call it hindsight if you want, but that's the way it was.

A couple of years before, I wanted Dallas to move up to pick Drew Brees and came unglued on draft day when Jerry did the Texas two-step and came out of the round with Quincy and Dixon.

But I'll also give you the bad ... I honestly thought Joey Harrington was a future star. I loved the guy.

Oh well.

All of this nonsense from decisions made years ago. Gee wiz. Plus, I'm not convinced we won't wind up with Rivers before it's all said and done.

I'm betting dollars to doughnuts that all those with the 20/20 hindsight today about Delhomme would have been singing the "Delhomme is nothing more than Jason Garrett" chorus if we would have signed him. And Galloway would have had the solo.

You are right. I don't recall many other than that "Jake to Dallas" guy claiming we should sign the Saints 3rd stringer in 2003.
