I think, once again, a lot of people are going to be really upset when Dallas doesn't go out and sign their pet cats to FA deals in the next few days.

Truth be told, that is one of my favorite things about the Zone. Watching all of these hopes get crushed. Especially for the "I hate him so we need to cut him" crowd. Seeing their hopes dashed just tickles the hell out of me.

Why exactly did we wait till the last possible moment to offer tenders? Is there some kind of advantage to doing so?

IMO, yes there is. You see what other teams are doing and can evaluate who might be looking at your players and what they would be willing to pay, or what you need to do to protect them. You can even gauge a possible trade offer.

Austin is the only player Jerry absolutely feels he has to get under contract. He could have immediately given hi the highest tender, but they've been trying to gauge the parameters of a deal first.

Everything will get done that they want to do. Trust me, the Front Office is aware of the deadlines. They just aren't in a panic to do anything.

Which is just another reason why folks like that are working in the Front Office of the Cowboys and all these weekend warriors and armchair GM's are sitting at their desks trying to tell the world why they'd be so much better at that job.

My favourite part is when the Skins sign a bunch of big names and some people here actually get jealous. As if somehow, someway, Snyder's gonna get the right guys this time

With fiscal matters, he has not historically been coy. I'd believe exactly what he says here in regards to budgetary concerns.

Correct. Jerry through his people will float stuff regarding players and the draft but he has always been a strait shooter about $$$. All the teams are playing under the same rules or lack of them this year. There is not much incentive to try and be cute about the financial side. It is what it is.

I think like in everything else, Dallas sees no rush in signing, re-signing and extending players.
