Let's begin at the beginning. I promised an Injured Receiver update and here goes ...
Big Bill says he is not concerned about Terry Glenn missing practice. It was simply a case of bad blisters on his foot. Of course, Parcells told the gathered media this long after I had stopped Glenn after practice and asked if he injured himself in Saturday's scrimmage. His short and curt, "I'm not hurt" prompted me to look at him strangely and him and ask, "Then why miss practice?" Silly me for not considering blisters.
T.O., on the other hand, is a different issue. Parcells reiterated that an MRI taken Saturday of his hamstring was clear and that he did not know what was keeping T.O. from practice. You can read more of my thoughts on this in my Little Balls of Hate column in the paper tomorrow.
But I will say that I find it very strange that Parcells, who has his fingers on the pulse of everything, is so low-key about his star receiver missing a fifth day of practice. Especially when he claims not really to be sure why.
Of course, while Parcells was telling everybody he did not know when he'd decide if T.O. is able to play in the preseason opener against Seattle on Saturday, T.O. was saying he did not think he would practice the rest of the week nor did he plan to play against the Seahawks.
Hmmmm. They may want to sit down and get their stories straight.
As for that nickname change, I went to introduce myself to Cowboys kicker Mike Vanderjagt on Monday and he looked at me with some name recognition. I was thinking he listened to the Dennis and Engel show or something. I was wrong.
"Oh," he said. "You are Mac's wife. He's a cool dude."
It is Mac's World. I am just living in it. Of course, I realized that after our trip to Rodeo Drive, where we ended up buying T-shirts with his name all over them. But alas that story, along with all of our off-day SoCal fun, is for another blog to be written after my column is done.
Let me just tease you by saying that I came face to face with a boa constrictor on Venice Beach. Oh. My. Scary.
