NFL NOTES
Giants, Dolphins to play in London
Wire Reports
The Miami Dolphins will host the New York Giants in a regular-season game in London this year.
A person familiar with the NFL's decision told The Associated Press on Thursday that the Dolphins will move a home game overseas. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement will not be made until after commissioner Roger Goodell's Super Bowl news conference today.
The Dolphins and Giants will play in September or October, and the game will be scheduled around a bye week for both teams. The schedule will be released in the spring.
It will be the second regular-season match played abroad. In October 2005, Arizona moved a home game with San Francisco to Mexico City. The Cardinals' victory drew a crowd of 103,467.
HGH testing debated
Players union executive director Gene Upshaw said he and league commissioner Roger Goodell have differing views about whether players should be blood tested for human growth hormone.
Upshaw's opposition to blood testing has been public for months, but it wasn't known until Thursday that Goodell considers blood testing a viable option.
The topic figures to be discussed in Goodell's news conference today.
Briefly
Steelers: Center Jeff Hartings, a two-time Pro Bowler, told his teammates shortly after the season ended that he's retiring, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
49ers: San Francisco hired San Diego linebackers coach Greg Manusky as its defensive coordinator.
Browns: Cleveland hired former Cowboys assistant coach Wes Chandler as its wide receivers coach.
Jurisprudence
Titans: An assault charge against cornerback Pacman Jones was dropped because a judge ruled there were too many inconsistencies in the testimony of a woman who claimed Jones spit on her at a Nashville night club.
NFL: A federal judge ruled that Korey Stringer's widow can proceed with her lawsuit against the NFL and equipment maker Riddell Inc. over his heatstroke death in 2001. Korey Stringer, a 335-pound lineman for Minnesota, died after he practiced in the sweltering heat and humidity that pushed his body temperature to 108.8 degrees.
Eagles: Two adult sons of Philadelphia coach Andy Reid are under investigation in the Philadelphia area -- one suspected of pointing a gun at a motorist, the other accused hours later of possessing drug paraphernalia after a car accident. No charges have been filed in either case.
