Thought this was interesting, also wonder how they got that info. Was Jenkins one of the national invites for next week? Also, does anyone recall where he was ranked on that dry board that got posted?

The Cowboys have two first-round picks this year, and there are a number of players they could select. They are trying to resist the temptation of taking a receiver in the first round because they need help now and would prefer a veteran option. So look for them to take a running back and a cornerback if they don't trade at least one of the picks for a receiver (possibly Roy Williams of Detroit). They have huge needs at both positions, but they would have a better chance of getting an impact running back in the second round (Texas' Jamaal Charles or East Carolina's Chris Johnson) than a cornerback. Mike Jenkins from South Florida is the top cornerback on their draft board, so look for them to take him if he is available. If the Cowboys take a running back in the first round, the most likely targets are Illinois' Rashard Mendenhall, Arkansas' Felix Jones and Oregon's Jonathan Stewart

I don't think they got any information from anywhere. Seems like they are making educated guesses like everyone else.

the way its presented there, they arnt guessing though...they said "Mike Jenkins IS the #1 CB on their board"

If Stewart or mendehall really drops into our lap and we take Felix I swear I will throw up. Stewart will go in the top 15. His toe is hurt but I think he is the second best back in the draft. Somwone will take a chance on him before #22

Just educated guessing and working out what they feel Dallas could do based on needs, rumors, and speculation from other places.

I wouldn't mind Mike Jenkins, Roy Williams, and a 2nd round runningback, like Ray Rice or Jamaal Charles for the first 3 spots. I'd be ok with that.

He was #4 on the dry erase board.

1. Cromartie
2. McKelvin
3. Phillips
4. Jenkins
5. Talib
6. Johnson
7. Porter
8. I think we decided Flowers
9. Cason

Am I under the impression that you wouldn't mind us taking Phillips in the 1st, and then deciding between Hamlin and Roy before the 09 season?

Because if (when) we get Pacman and a guy like Cason, Flowers, etc is around in the 2nd then we've addressed our 4th CB spot and freed up some serious space at the safety position with Willy or Ken departing.

I don't know about Hos, but I'm with that!

Give us Jenkins and Pacman for a 5th and I'd feel really good about our corner situation for '08.

And our return game.

It's interesting that Clarence Hill states this as fact, yet provides no attribution at all. This isn't common knowledge.

If he's going to make a statement that definitive, then he needs to attribute it to someone ... even if it's a "team official" or "unnamed source." Basic journalism. Where is the sports editor? This isn't an opinion piece.

I'm not sure I believe it anyway.

I would rather get a CB than a Safety, but if the idea is to improve the team, I am always for it. Whether that means improving talent, coverage, or cap control, I am in favor of it.

If we draft Phillips and team him with a rejuvenated Roy, I'll be fine with it.

If we draft Phillips and move Hamlin to SS. I'll be fine with it.

If we draft a CB and it's not my kid Cason, I will be fine with it. I don't get so married to one prospect that I automatically hate all the rest. I just want us to get any one of a number of talented CBs out there this year. I'd be just as happy with a Talib or Jenkins as I would be with Cason.

I'd welcome Kenny Phillips if it solidified Safety. You bet.

I don't think Phillips is a 1st rd talent. I think we are much better off taking a CB. Heck, Cason and Talib probably project better to Safety then they do CB. I'd probably take one of them and take my chances. JMO

niether one of them are physical enough to play safety fulltime IMO...

I don't know about them going to safety but I just haven't gotten around to looking at them yet....if ever. I just enjoy looking not that I take it that seriously.

I really want them to go after a CB hard. But if they can get one of the CBs they feel is good for them out of the first then I'm good with that.. Truly if we get Pacman, draft a RB and a veteran WR then we are good to go after the best athlete available regardless of position after the RB.
