So far... Saw Jackson, Jones, and Jones as basically all the same back -- low 1st round grades.

Parcells was the only one who wanted Merriman. Agent and character led team to want Ware. Broaddus says if he could do it again, he'd take Merriman.

BB does a good job on there. He was on a few days ago. I enjoy listening to him. He is a nice guy, he messaged me on here once offering answers for something. Good guy.

hmm, contrary to the belief that Bill doesn't like dealing w/ the Postons, Merriman's agents, and he values character

If they could do it again, I hope they would take Ware again.

Well, maybe that's part of it... Parcells wouldn't have been the one who had to deal with the Postons.

It's funny, Estridge asked Bryan, why were the scouts for Ware, too? Because of character? And BB said yes, that Bill pretty much just observed the first draft when he was there. It was in 2004 that he got more involved and heavily emphasized charracter. Maybe Bill thought strongly enough about Merriman to override that? I dunno. But I'm glad, too, that we got Ware. I think he's just as good, or 99% as good. Broaddus said he now thought Merriman was exceptional enough that he now thinks Bill was right.

Nobody brought up the 'roids suspension, though. That would have been interesting. Plus, I'd like to see Merriman next year minus Wade and minus roids.

Sounds like revisionist history to me. I find it hard to believe, considering all we have heard over the last two years, that supposedly BP was the only one that wanted Merriman over Ware.

Kind of weird to hear all of the Merriman/Ware talk start all over again today. This, coming on the heels of Galloway's blurb today, and I'm still skeptical.

Why did Bill immediately compare Ware to Taylor, if that was the case? I'm just not sure that there was ever as big a difference there are some have led on...

Regardless of who was the original target, I still say that I would rather have Ware than Merriman. I felt that way then, and I still feel that way now.

No kidding. If you remember seeing Bill and Jerry after the Ware pick in the war room, there's no doubt they got their guy.

And I much prefer Ware to Merriman, too.

Revising what? What some hack on a message board thought might be the case nad passed it on as afact? This is coming straight from the horses mouth.

Really? Why is it that everything else from all sources over the last 2 years said something else? Now we just accept what he says now as the gospel?
Sorry, I am a whole lot more skeptical. I also remember watching JJ and BP when they picked Ware- I saw nothing that indicated they did anything but picked the guy they BOTH wanted.

At the time of the draft, Parcells probably liked Merriman's "on field character" more than Ware's.

During a press conference or two after Ware was a Cowboy, the only real negative that Parcells mentioned about Ware was that he wished Ware played with more meanness / nastiness.

Apparently Ware is a more responsible, mature, good hearted guy and Merriman is more impulsive and wreckless. There are some advantages and disadvantages associated with both of these character types.

(I'm glad the Cowboys picked Ware, though).

...on TV, that is.

I remember I thought it was BP who overruled Jerry, but there have been articles posted that said that Jerry overruled BP. We don't know what goes on in the War room before the lights come on. By the time we see them, everything is all smiles and sunshine.

Given the steroid suspension, Merriman has already had one wreck. And another one would put him out for a year.

I really doubt that JJ and BP were worried about what the cameras were seeing at that time- at least I hope they weren't. MUCH more important that they be looking at the next draft pick.
