Aaron Glenn got abused by every WR on that team

yep, and thats why he belongs in the slot. Nobody can convince me that playing Newman in the slot is in the Cowboys best interest.

Because 90% of the time, team put there best player in the slot.

Because the slot is the hardest position to play for a CB.

Because the coaching staff says so. And until you become a coach, you don't know what the teams best interest is

sorry forgot about that one. I knew there was a third reason i was missing.

And Roy Williams torching Aaron Glenn on the outside which will happen again this year. Dont forget that one either.

When a team DOES put their best wr in the slot, THEN put Newman on him. If not keep him where hes supposed to be. I dont see Champ Bailey following Doug Gabriel in the slot when they play the Raiders.

Just like its in the teams best interest to put Newman back to return punts most of the time, its in the teams best interest to put Newman on the no.1 reciever wherever that guy is when we are in nickel.

We can just agree to disagree tho.

What a stupid call on that Roy interception. What was Newman supposed to do?

I'm still trying to figure out why NFLN was replaying the 2003 AFC Wildcard game earlier tonight.

Here I was hoping to watch some recent games for FF scouting, and they choose a (albeit good) 2003 wildcard game to show?

Ha ha, now thats its over I defintly enjoyed TO's endzone dance to make the game 31-30. As for TNew, Mike Williams did beat him and I beileve Newman guessed wrong on that play. This was his worst game of the year and everyones entitled to that.

As for our defense, it is so basic, we rush 4 on 85 percent of the game. All Det does is either send everyone deep and dump to the RB or run a crossing route. Note to fans, that season is over lets look ahead.

Im telling you, it will be hard to argue that Roy Williams is not the best WR in the league. Im watching the game now and Henry is getting beat on every pass in the 4th.

Thats not a great barometer for sucess.

But yea, RW, Andre Johnson and Fitzgerald are nice. And all 3 have done what theyve done without a steady QB situation.

you know what is funny about that williams td on newman. The cowboys defensive line blew a stunt and ayodele ran into the back of one of the stunting players, cant remember if it was bowen, ratliff or ferguson but two lineman spears and one of the tackles plus ayodele blew a stunt and blitz and newman was left alone...

I am confident wade phillips will teach them to do this properly, but it is a big red flag seeing that stunting and taking chances with the backers in that open gap is the essence of phillips defense.

Brian baldinger broke that play down with the game film on nfl network last week and that is why it is still fresh in my head.

Detroit game and the Saints game are the two I can't stomach to watch from last season.

Can't wait untill the last game? Why not try it then and it gives the Seahags less time to prepare for the changes. POINT is that we tried different things on D and it did very little good.

Yeah that's one of the worst calls in NFL history in a regular season game... I guess Newman was supposed to stop in mid air

I can't believe I am actually about to say this...

But burmafrd is right.

We tried many different things. And got beat by a variety of plays. By the Detroit Lions. And Jon Kitna.

Super Bowl, here we come!

All those that wanted us to try different things- would it have made any difference if we had tried it a couple of games earlier- say right after NO?
We would probably have done the same things we did vs Detroit. And probably had about as much success. What then? We tried different formations, blitzes, stunts, etc. Zimmer was allowed to try everything possible against Detroit and it did no good against a second rate at best offense.

I still don,t get why 5'9" aaron glenn would covering Roy williams on the 2 td's? put your best corner on their best wr!

Glenn has made a living playing against bigger receivers. He did well against Plaxico in '05 if I'm not mistaken. So height isn't the problem.

Besides Newman isn't that much taller than Glenn. Henry is about an inch and change taller than Newman.

The 'boys just don't have many giants in their defensive backfield...with the exception of Pat Watkins.

Some of that has to do with the coverage your running. If it was all man to man then I could see trying to move Newman to Williams side but when running zones that is not going to be the case.
