Signed by Cowboys G Jonathan Cooper re-signs for 1-year

You mean like the smoke screen that they were comfortable with Kellen Moore as a backup and then drafted a qb who then took the league by storm?
When they drafted Dak he was 4th string. Can't be a smokescreen if they had no idea he would be one of the greatest rookie QB

I was just saying, even if Moore didnt get hurt. Prescott would have taken him over his knee in TC. That first preseason game was all I needed to see to be honest.

Prescott most likely wouldn't have gotten the playing time in preseason had Moore not got hurt

Have you seen Moore play? Prescott would have beaten him out no problem. Its not even a comparison
Dak was 4th string......how many chances do you think Dak gets to play as the 4th string QB. Even when Moore went down Showers was taken the reps.

If you think the injuries had nothing to do with Dak getting to play then I don't know what else to tell you

I know Cooper doesn't count against the comp pick formula for the next year, but did he technically count against us in this cycle or do mid year free agent acquisitions count in the cycle?

Cooper is considered a re-sign of their own free agent. He was cut at the end of last season by Cleveland and signed by Dallas.

Anyone signed after mid-May doesn't count and he was waived so that is another non-qualifier

I forgot he was a cut so he wouldn't count anyway. But what if a team signed a free agent during the season. Do the same rules apply?
