His back was bad when it was rumored we were looking at him. It's probably a big reason we passed on him.

Nor did anybody really seriously discuss his injury potential earlier in the year when he was being considered, it was all about his cost. In hindsight, he was an injury waiting to happen, of course.

If you're talking about a knee or ankle, true. But he hurt his back in non-contact drills, I believe. Makes me think the injury was just waiting for a place to happen.

Except that it was mentioned, no matter how often people try and claim it wasn't, back when people were talking about getting him.

I absolutely remember Hos, or one of the folks who usually seems to bring good information to those discussions, mentioning he was battling a bad back.

Which he continued to battle all offseason and now.

You folks who think the Cowboys were the only ones to pass on him...news flash...a lot of other teams did as well and it was because they knew about the back problems.

But I guess you armchair GM's, who all think you're way smarter than the guys who actually do the job, would have magically known he wouldn't have had a bad back if someone else would have picked him up.

It was a pre exisiting condition, so in this case yeah
 
lots of players have rumors about injuries; sometime true sometime not. Clearly the boys knew it was true. Shame about him; shame about any really good player that gets a bad back; its like a deterioraing knee or for QBs the bad shoulder; for linemen once the back goes that is it; I remember Rivera and his back getting hurt on a machine before he even played a down; he was never the same player he was with the pack.

I don't think they were interested in him regardless, they like Free and Columbo.
 
Gaither is still better than majority of the mess in Dallas... Who says he would have got injured in Dallas?
