Not familiar with this woman as an actress, but I just don't understand the casting as of now from a strict appearance standpoint.
Thought Gina Carano would've been an obvious choice, so I can see why they may have steered clear of that. But you would've at least imagined someone in that same mold filling the role.
Somewhat of a side note: Hollywood Star Power/ Marvel v DC
These castings are pretty odd. Marvel did a great job of launching their avengers franchise by casting actual stars, starting with Downey Jr. Then Norton (although he didn't return). Chris Evans was at least a recognizable guy from his work elsewhere. Chris Hemsworth wasn't, but that's probably why they surrounded him with Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard, Renee Russo, etc... later on Samuel L Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner. Vin Diesel WILL be making a mark on the franchise soon, as well as Benecio Del Toro, and rumor has it; Paul Rudd.
DC on the other hand isn't exactly going that route.
It seems like they feel like the general public is more familiar with their heros already, so they just need to make a visually stunning film (hence: Snyder). But IMO, they need to exceed what Marvel has done/is doing/will do, and get relevant and recognizable faces. It's kind of ironic that they've casted the most recognizable face (Affleck) as the current most recognizable hero for them, as if Batman needed any help. It's Superman who needs help distinguishing himself from all the less than B listers that recent filled the role: Dean Cain, Brandon Routh, Tom Weller... who???). Now Wonder Woman is some girl that doesn't look like Wonder Woman and nobody even knows. I mean, it would've made more sense if it was Megan Fox, who also doesn't look like wonder woman, isn't a great actress, but at least will draw a crowd.
I'm rooting for DC, but I think they really should try to help themselves more with their casting.
