I consider this relatively big news. Gallimore is a 3rd year DT who was supposed to be a guy that would take up space and stuff the run. But McCarthy said they decided to bring up Watkins from the practice squad and activate him over Gallimore specifically because they were concerned about Detroit running the football. They must not be very happy with Gallimore so far this year because replacing him with Watkins to stop the run is a huge statement. I have to admit, I have been very disappointed with Gallimore this year as well.

On the other hand, at least it is an acknowledgment that DT is a weak spot in the defense. Maybe 2023 will be the year they draft one in the first round for the first time since 1991.

Galli has been a huge disappointment to me this year. I have liked him from day 1 and have always thought him to be a bright spot on the D-line. But he just isn't playing as well as the others at this point. Maybe this benching will light a fire under his butt. Maybe he just isn't as good as I thought.

If it happens again next week and he is not on the injury report. Then maybe there is something to it, as to some concern over his play.
Right now, it is just one of those "analytics" things. Who knows. Will wait and see.

He hasn't seemed completely right after his injury last year. Not sure if the wrist is on the same arm as that injury. Either way, if he can get healthy, I think he helps our defense.

His calling card at Oklahoma was showing up big for short stretches, and then disappearing for awhile. Supremely talented player, but at some point he's going to have to put it all together and learn how to be consistent. Pretty disappointed that hasn't happened yet.

Thanks for bringing this up !
I did not know this.

I thought he showed flashes last year and might be the big DT we needed ...
Not trending that way ...:(

Hope so but do not think the boys are selecting a DT with the first pick, they will let the egirls do that.
