Saying he talked to his source and here's what he was told. Of course, feel free to disregard it as you choose.

-- Clifton Geathers is doing great and could contribute on the D-line.

-- Igor will *not* be cut. Stays one more year, if only that.

-- Sean Lee is going to be a heck of a player.

-- Jenkins is having a better camp than last year, but how could he not.

-- Questions if Newman can still contribute much even when healthy... But probably not in danger of being released.

-- Scandrick up and down.

-- Maybe related to the above, still looking around at third corners.

-- Young safeties? Barry Church looks like a player.

-- Sensabaugh will be much better this year as teaching all the young guys (Ball?) last year divided his attention.

-- Elam looks like a great addition, as does Coleman. (No shock there.)

-- Ogletree only so-so (which surprises Galloway).

-- Radway doing well, but won't contribute this year.

-- Lonyae Miller doing well and could push out Choice (but we knew that).

-- Watch Costa at center.

-- Sam Young slipping? Not really. Wasn't great at LT against Ware, but on the right side looks much better.

(Edit, added a few I forgot the first time.)

So we're keeping Ratliff, Spears, Coleman, Hatcher, Igor, Josh Brent, Lissimore and Geathers is doing great? IMO, 2 have to go. Maybe only 1 (geathers), but I still think 2 (Igor+geathers).

Good post. Nothing earth shattering

Lissimore may be in trouble.

Here's what my "source" said:

-Romo is looking to rebound after last year's injury.
-Ware has been a beast in practice.
-Dez Bryant is fast.
-The Cowboys will once again wear a star on their helmets.

Hahaha. If you're going to talk to a secret source, bring something new to the table!

Agree, not enough room for all of them.

Appreciate the post, CL.

Interesting about Geathers. Thought he was a decent churn late last year, but haven't heard a single bit of info from any of the bloggers/reporters during TC.

Looking at who?

The rubbish that is out there is hardly worth sifting through.

We played the waiting game a little too long in free agency. We are hitched to what we currently have. Unless some unexpected cuts come as rosters are finalized, I would not expect much in terms of relief.

Doubtfull. He played well in the scrimmage and by all reports has had a good camp. Not to mention he's a second year player, really no reason for him to be in trouble after it seems he's gotten better.

I'd say only 1 is gone. They lost Bowen but added Coleman. Everyone else was on the team last year minus Geathers. To start the year I believe.

It makes sense that Geathers is doing well early. Except for Coleman, he is the most familiar with Rob Ryan's schemes. Rob actually cut Geathers when they were in Cleveland.

It will really be interesting once Spears, Lissemore, Price, Hatcher, et. al. become more accostomed to Ryan's assignments toward the end of TC/preseason. That is when Geather's edge becomes less noticeable. Then again, Geathers could improve too. He is a physical specimen, he has just never lived up to his potential, even at the college level.

Last year they kept 7, specifically Lissimore and Josh Brent (they we're the 6th and 7th guys) because 3 of our DEs were free agents at seasons end. This year, everyone is under contract for *atleast* 1 more season so there is no need to keep developmental guys like Geathers (if he shows anything, trade him for a 6th or 7th) or guys who won't contribute due to the log jam. Since Ratliff and Brent are the NTs, I can really only see 4 DEs having a chance to contribute.

Spears will remain the LDE starter and hopefully be backed up by Lissimore. On the right side, I'd like to see Hatcher and Colmen battle it out. I would likely start/play Igor plenty to keep his value up because we may be able to deal him for a 6th or 7th as well.

Pretty sure the year before had the same number as well. Of course in 2008 they went with 6 I think.

Then again, I think the 2010 Browns only had 6

Did any writer actually report Jenkins was having a bad camp at that time? Or are they pretending that they saw it all along because of his bad regular season?

Na, I think in 09' it was

RDE- Igor, Bowen
NT- Ratliff, Junior Siavii
LDE- Spears, Hatcher

I *think* this was it, can't think of who else. In 08' it was the same group minus Igor and Siavii, but with Tank Johnson and Chris Canty. In 07' we added Tank half way through the year, so we may of had 7, can't remember who the back-up NT was though.

I don't remember hearing specifically if he was having a good camp or not, but I do remember him saying something along the lines of "I don't have to work as hard because I made it last year" which rubbed pretty much everyone the wrong way.

Galloway is a pessimistic fellow so I'm both surprised and pleased by the positive nature of this report. If the Cowboys only apparent weaknesses are corner depth and receiver depth, it bodes well for the season.

Anyone know how Acuna and Pepa have looked? I have heard a bit about Kowalski but nothing about these guys. What about Parmalee?

Early on there was some positive stuff about Pepa but haven't heard anything after that. Everything said about Acuna was that he isn't showing anything.
