Gallup stats compared to TO and Dez after 2 years

The drops are what everyone remembers the most, but my biggest issue with Gallup is his inability to win the body position battle in tight coverage. I don’t think that’s something you can teach at this level. Certain receivers just have that special ability to time a jump and position their bodies to make the grab in a very small window. Gallup doesn’t have that. He’s a decent route runner and has good speed....

I really like Gallup, but more hands catches would take him to another level.

If him and Cooper can stop dropping the ball so frequently, we got something.

See Winston.

Cowboys are Tampa plus a rushing attack. Seriously stats are not everything. A true number one offence is in the playoffs.. not sitting 8-8

irrelevant to the point at hand. Not to mention jameis threw 30 picks and “+ plus a rushing attack” isn’t exactly trivial. Jameis just chucks it deep at all times and all costs. Daks stats obviously didn’t translate how we’d like and are fairly padded, but jameis is a terrible and lazy comparison

Hmmmm....interesting, especially since he's a # 2 receiver

Owens wore pants, Bryant wore pants, and Gallup wears pants!

People like to compare up and coming players to players who hit it big while *not* looking to see about all the players with similar trajectories who fizzled.

Gallup is a #2 on a team with 4900 yards passing and a meh starting TE. Good #2. Doesn't have the size, speed, physicality, athleticism, hands, or skill to be a #1.

Don't forget how good Terrance looked in his stats. 9+ yards/tgt his first four years. The #2 WR receiver can be made by a good offense around him. He's the guy teams take their chances on.

Gallup is better. He delivers more production per route run. Do those stats exist anywhere?

If you look hard enough you can find any stat to justify something. How many other WRs have about those same numbers through their first 2 seasons? It's meaningless. FYI, nobody fears Gallup like TO and Bryant.
Maybe they aren't keying in on him quite the same as they did T.O. or Dez, but I bet they make damn sure somebody knows where he's at.

We’ve seen him leap high for catches on and off target...he has the athletic ability, and the more back shoulder and 50-50 balls he gets from Dak instead of just the wide open throws, the better he will get at it....the willingness and ability to battle is there, I think.

Remember when Irvin stuck his leg out to block the DB from making the play?

Size? 6’1”
Speed? 4.45 forty
Athleticism? Ummm....really?

I’m not saying he’s a number 1, but he certainly has these qualities and is a very good route runner.

Please don't think I'm a fan of Winston.. I'm not at all.. the guy has no game awareness. I thought he would develop but he didn't.

All I was saying is that IF you were to looking purely at stats.. then he was statistically the qb with the most passing yards. That is mathematical fact. What I find amusing is that when discussing Winston we can all agree stats lie.. but then when discussing Dak we are meant to ignore our eyes because stats say he is top 3?!

He was overthrown at least ten times when he was wide open down the sideline for a long TD. Should have eight more catches for 250 more yards. That won't stop Jerrah from breaking the bank for Dak. Here's hoping his deep ball accuracy improves, or Gallup will keep losing catches.

Per combine
6-1

4.51

Good route runner. Not great. I don't see him breaking tackles for YAC or outmuscling his way to a reception. Not great hands either. Competent all around. Doesn't have size, strength, or length to beat guys physically.

We agree. Not a 1. He's a two to be happy with. He was being compared to one of the top all time WRs, and a guy who was elite a few years.

He has a better QB ........

Stop throwing things .......... I am leaving!!
