There is a thread on this page as I open this morning declaring what the game of the year is going to be.

First, I'm on record that I've seen this play out before that a team plays piss-poor but somehow survives one week, only to take on an even worse W/L record the next week, and doesn't survive the next. Too often, that's been the Cowboys over the 40+ years I've been a fan, but this time, I see NYG going down that road. Odds might be in their favor, even heavily in their favor, but the trajectory of their play recently whispers, to me at least, that karma is all too anxious to bring them down.

So, I have a somewhat different reason for saying it than Garrett seems to say it, but... "game of the year?"... for this team it's next week's game and will always be next week's game, whoever is the opponent, and that's because this team not only is one that is so vulnerable, but it's one that knows it's so vulnerable.

When you know you're so vulnerable, legitimately and no false humility involved, it's actually a strength of the team.

And how is that? Because that same vulnerability is what feeds (a) a healthy respect for your opponents and (b) an internal drive spurred by a very real sense that it can all be taken away and things could begin spiraling the opposite way if you lose focus for even one game.
