Love that show!!! Can't wait!!! That is the main reason I pay for HBO all year, certainly not to watch the same few movies over and over!!!

Absolutely. If HBO was a la carte..... my bill would be significantly lower.

I just cancel it once GoT is over, then get it back again for Hard Knocks and cancel it once thats over......its annoying having to cancel it and listen to the "but, but, but" from the Rep, but its worth it....cause otherwise they really do just play the same ol movies over and over again for weeks.....

I know its done on purpose, but it would be nice if you could cancel channels online as easily as you can order them, instead of havin to actually call to cancel...

Yes, you should be able to make these decisions online... I usually keep it, with my full direct tv package... but Im a few days away from getting rid of everything... I will try HBO now subscription.

The old building I used to live in gave all the tenants access to HBO Go, so that's how I got into GoT. Binged the first 4 seasons a month before season 5 premiered and watched all of season 5 as it aired (it's available on HBO Go usually as soon as it starts airing on TV, sometimes a few minutes after). When I moved, I bought a TV and cable strictly so I could watch the Cowboys games (10 of the 16 games aired on national TV I believe). I got the basic package (no premium channels, just what your black box would've gotten you in the 90s), and they threw in free HBO. Wasn't even thinking about GoT at the time, but when they pitched me HBO that's the first thing that came to my mind. Anyway, long story short, if you don't need cable, I'd suggest checking out HBO Go. I'm probably canceling my cable after my contract runs out. I never watch it. I have Netflix, Prime and I know all the free websites. No need for TV anymore if you ask me. And I grew up on TV.

Edit: I see you mentioned HBO Now. I've only used HBO Go, but Now will probably do everything you need. I see it's only $15 a month. Not bad. HBO Go had all the recorded episodes so I don't think you could watch in real time.

Edit Edit: I see the only difference between Go and Now is that Go requires a cable subscription to HBO and Now is an internet subscription. Other than that, everything appears the same. So I guess Now is the way to go (or Go is the way to now?).

I'm definitely glad I got Prime. Even their music is much improved. I recently canceled Spotify. I still think Spotify is the best but it wasn't worth $10 a month when I have Prime Music, Rhapsody UnRadio (free with T-Mobile) and YouTube.

Good question. I used to do NFL Sunday Ticket Mobile (since I didn't have cable). The thing that annoyed me about that was that it was so expensive and still didn't give me all the games (Thursdays, Mondays and I believe a few other games). So that was annoying. I did start going to a Meetup at a local bar that aired all the Cowboys games. Wasn't bad but I prefer to watch alone. And I don't like the quality of free streams. So, good question. Maybe Sunday Ticket Mobile again. I don't know.

Edit: I see NFL Sunday Ticket is available to non DirecTV customers starting in 2016. $200 to stream it on your laptop. I'll plug it into my TV. Still will have to go to the bar for the Thursday and Monday games.

I'm hyped, even though I wasn't happy with some of the direction HBO took with the show in season 5. Now they're in their own story line, with none of Martins story to adapt, I hope it stays as good as it was.

It'll still be his story by and large.

True but I didn't like how they handled Sansa in season 5. She went through living hell, barely getting by, and finally got out. She was learning the play by the harsh rules. All that time and development, and for nothing. She was back in the same situation she just got out of, and was tricked, and violated all within a few episodes. That was lame. Jaime and bron going south wasn't handled all that well from a production stand point. Dany in the books really seems powerful, and all her battles show her gaining strength. In the series she comes across as just a lady who sits in rooms and dictates. Vikings has nice big battles, surely HBO and all their budget could have done a better job at showing her conquering through strength. I just think some of the cracks started to show just when they started having to flesh out the material themselves. They may know a lot of the outline that is obvious, but I'm dreading the season becoming more soap opera like than epic fantasy.

Don't think HBO increased the show's budget in parallel to its popularity. Makes it difficult to do everything...
