Hos, Adbutcher and I had a blast, met up with fans from another board and they were a great bunch of guys.

Overall thoughts:

Bledsoe was awful, that ball patting was driving us crazy. His only good throw was on a pick play to Witten.

Romo out played Bledsoe, he made good reads and gets the ball away on time, but his arm is not even close to the Drews. He paired up with Witten and made a really nice touch pass over the defender.

Henson was solid, he played within himself made good reads and had several of those WOW throws. He had no protection at all, and his only poor throw was the high one to Zuriel that could have been a TD.

Thompson has got a gear above anyone else on the field.

Crowder and Smith both had solid games.

We have more talent at DT than I thought, Pepper is a keeper, Carson is in trouble.

Singleton and James both had strong games.

Ware struggled at times and played a lot.

Canty was solid at both end and tackle.

Beriault played well, and had the best game of all the safeties behind Roy.

Ogbogu is huge in the upper body.

Burnett and Singleton are both bigger than Shanle, and it's not close.

Gurode and Johnson both had problems.

All the RTs played poorly, and Vollers stunk it up at LT too. Rogers got hurt and did not return.

Thanks for the Post BZ. I am not worried about the team just yet, it is only game one of the preseason, But I am glad Henson looked solid.

The crowd really got behind him too.

We were pretty vanilla and played too much zone coverage.

Their TD was a fluke, it looked like Warner overthrew his receiver and Fitzgerald was just in the right place at the right time.

We were totally vanillia and rightfully so considering we play them for real in Oct.

My favorite was watching Ware cover Larry Fitz 1 on 1 we all know that will happen in regular season right lol

The play with Waner, Ware hit him right as he threw causing the bad throw Fitz made a hell of an adjustment to catch that ball nothing could have prevented that

I just saw the the TD on the replay of the game here and Warner was throwing to the TE and the pass sailed, what we saw live was correct, it was a fluke...and a heck of a catch.:D

It's great you guys were able to get together and see a game without getting into arguements like people often do on forums. Congratulations to cool-headed people. If I didn't have such an aversion to crowds, I would love to have been there to share a little beer and a lot of laughs. I enjoy hearing about it when forumites attend games together, it's always good reading because you feel you know the people involved even if you've never seen them.

I really enjoyed watching it at home, even if it was a fairly typical first pre-season game with all the attendant errors, etc., it was still Cowboys football and and I relished the opportunity to see all the new names and faces. Some were pretty impressive while others, like Tucker, continued to build Parcells' faith in who they are.

The Cards are going to be a good team this year so it's no surprise they played well for a first pre-season game. Next weekend can't come soon enough.

It's way too early to come to very many decisions, but it's fun watching this year unfold. It's like watching a cactus flower bloom on a prickly pear, it's a sure sign of good things to come. (Did you ever eat prickly pear jelly or syrup? MMmmmmm.)

Thanks for the recap BZ...

I agree on the TD...NO WAY that wasn't a busted play....the WR's almost ran into eachother...

On TV it looked like Burnett had a good game, what's your take on his performance?

Bill Parcells makes Kool-Aid that tastes great and is less filling.
Jerry Jones makes lousy Kool-Aid, but it's pretty and it sparkles.{/quote]

BZ, we saw how bad the oline sucked. (some of us out of towners got lucky -shut up Juke - :), the game as shown on nfltv)

and we saw Bledsoe's performance, highly mitigated by line play.

What we can never see is full receiver routes..

what I would like to know is if Drew's ball patting was on the receivers..that they weren't getting separation.

and if it was, how much would you estimate was?

Glad you had a good time!!!

Well, LTN...I saw the game on DTV :D and I was immediately reminded of the Bills fan who posted here after we obtained Bledsoe..."get used to, pat pat pat, sack....pat pat pat, fumble...pat pat pat, INT."

Yeah, Juke...if only there were a way to separate out that atrocious line play..but I too was left with the feeling Drew compounded the inadequacy,,I just can't guage how much.

Knowing if the receivers were unable to get open will help solve the suckitude equation.

Thanks for the observations BZ.

In chat they were talking about how the ref got in the way of a pass play (polite maybe) and I said well...we know BZ is there so it must have been him. :lmao2:

On the field, Bledsoe has always reminded me of the guy at work who walks into the middle of a very funny, good time, entertaining conversation and just flattens the whole thing to the point that after a few seconds, everyone drifts back to their offices.

He just inspires FLATNESS.

So even if the offensive line's play was, well, offensive, one would like to see a QB who inspires some energy...ala Delhomme, or someone of that nature.

Bledsoe is never going to be that guy.

Well, to hear Nors tell it, dynamism in the huddle is exactly what Bledsoe brings to the huddle that the 'listless' Testaverde didn't.

If course, Tony and DH didn't have to deal with Berry and Okeafor..that's a factor that minimizes any chance to build energy in the huddle...

but I was impressed with both kids in that regard.

Particularly Henson. He does not look like a guy who will be shell shocked easily, and a bad throw won't set up a chain reaction of foolish attempts to reclaim it.

Bledsoe is a less gregarious version of Herman Munster.

The field presence of both back ups was impressive.

Henson impressed me from day one when he went into the Ravens game, got blitzed on the first play, fumbled...and then went 6-6 and drove the team to their only TD that day.

Last night, Henson was the bus driver...and Romo showed why Parcells likes him.

I agree with your analysis except for Henson. He still needs much work.......

Agreed. BUT he did exactly what Parcells wants his QB's to do....he didn't force the ball...he threw it away. He didn't panic when the opposition put pressure on him (as they did on many occasions).

My view of Henson has changed. In the beginning, I was hoping he would be THE guy rather quickly. Now I am seeing him as a project and through that perspective, I was happy with what I saw last night.
