Sunday night game sets ratings record

9/12/2011 10:56:01 AM

The Cowboys-Jets last night turned in the best overnight rating in NBC Sunday Night Football's five-plus years according to Barry Horn of the Dallas Morning News.

The game scored a 16.9 rating in the 56 major markets across the country. The previous best was 16.5 for the Cowboys-Giants game that marked the grand NFL opening at Cowboys Stadium in 2009.

The 16.9 was also the best overnight prime rating for a season opener since the Cowboys-Bears posted a 20.2 for ABC Monday Night Football in 1996.

I am sure people would have wanted to watch the New York game on 9/11 regardless, but people tune in for the Cowboys.

There's really no question as to who America's team is, even when they play frustratingly or not.

Ratings prove it all the time.

Hmm, Is there a common denominator here?

Wow, the Jets, Giants and Bears must be really popular.

I sent the link to this to Bob Molinaro who wondered last week why we get such great TV exposure.

Should send this to that dousche bag that tried saying that TV execs are in love with the Cowboys for no apparent reason.

Is that the game where it looked like Emmitt got a serious spine/neck injury?

Doubtful you'll get a response.
Actually the guy kind of likes me. He's responded several times, always civil and pretty cool.

I tell everyone if you watch NFL football you are a DALLAS COWBOYS FAN!!! Fanatic - a person devoted to a particular hobby or pastime. Therefore, if a person watches every DALLAS COWBOYS game just see them lose, they are a DALLAS COWBOYS fan. People are just fascinated by our DALLAS COWBOYS good or bad.

He did respond. Admitted he watched too, until Breaking Bad came on.
