Game Day Game thread: Preseason Saints at Cowboys

He doesn't have to get reps this year. He will be one of the inactive players. You keep him because he has showed enough to get claimed. He might not get claimed, but he has played well enough to deserve it. I don't take the chance. I think he's worth developing. Once Mingo is gone next year, he moves up to fifth on the depth chart and would be one injury away from playing because we don't use Turpin like a regular receiver.
Mingo is gone? They speak highly of him. They speak like he’s the Goodwin replacement.

Camden Brown is a UDFA that showed good potential in PS. He's not getting cut, but he won't clear waivers

Mingo has looked good enough to possibly still have some trade value. I mean, even a 6th or 7th round pick. ANYTHING better than just cutting him

He's an undrafted free agent next year. I figure he'll be looking for a spot where he has a chance to compete for a No. 3 job. We have our top three, and I don't expect that to change next year.

That is a move I would consider IF someone were willing to trade us a backup tackle for him. Not sure which teams have that kind of depth at tackle and are lacking depth at receiver.

They didn't dress Mingo tonight so he has either made the team or will be traded (doubtful). Remember, they cut Flournoy last year and he made it back without any issues. I expect several cuts of players we don't think they will. In all honesty, this team needs another vet player at CB. That room is not that great IMO. Need at least one more proven guy there. The way Bland looked last year worries me and Revel wasn't great last year either.

I'm not with you on corner. With Downs playing the nickel, I think we've got enough there with Bland, Durant and Revel fighting for the two starting spots. It's not perfect and we could always stand to improve our depth, but I'm not super concerned about the position.

Unrestricted free agent, not undrafted.

I mean as of right now Pickens isn't under contract for next year.

The hole that they have is at offensive tackle.
They pulled Thomas early....makes me wonder if he's the swing. They left Shelton out there to struggle...It's gonna suck to see a 4th round pick get cut.....but I think he's a gone.

No, but if he has a year like last year (and that looks likely), we'll tag him at the least. That means when free agency starts, Lamb, Pickens and Flournoy will still be our top three receivers. The only way they wouldn't is if we tagged Pickens and immediately traded him. I don't see that happening.

Yeah, I'm thinking they are gonna keep 3 QBs.
Overkill....I don't see it.....Especially since you can have Howell on the practice squad...then bring him up on game days as the emergency QB...and not count towards the 48 on game days.

Unless we make a move, I think he has to be. We don't have anyone else who has shown they can do it (not that Thomas has ... at least not effectively).

I don't see Pickens playing on a tag two years in a row. It's already stupid to do it now but I guess he's trying to rehab his reputation in the league. Do it two years in a row and all of a sudden his agent is committing malpractice.
