This question was brought up in another thread and I was wondering what everyone here thought. With the signing of Allen Rossum, and assuming we get healthy over the bye week, who do we leave inactive against Atlanta and moving forward?

Gotta trim down our current 8/9 LB's to only 7, so Jason Williams and Curtis Johnson are likely the most logical choices to be inactive over Butler and Octavien. How I see it, our 8 inactives are as follows:

Stephen McGee
Kevin Ogletree
Duke Preston
Pat McQuistan
Montrae Holland
Curtis Johnson
Jason Williams
Mike Hamlin

With Allen Rossum now on the team, we can't justify taking 8 DB's (not including Rossum, even though I doubt he'll ever see time at DB). That being said, I just can't see Mike Hamlin being active over guys like Ball and Watkins who have done a semi-decent job this year, short of Mike Hamlin having a couple STELLAR weeks of practice.

Got to agree with this list (barring injury), with Johnson possibly displacing Butler or Octavien if healthy. The numbers work out best with these inactives to not leave any spot without some depth.

I could see Jason Williams possibly making it over one of the OLBs, too, based on special teams play ... since it's a choice of taking one ILB backup (Carpenter) or one OLB backup (Butler/Octavien/Johnson), but I'm not sure who is the best special-teammer of that bunch.

McGee doesn't count as an inactive spot because he's the 3rd/emergency QB
