Early reports look like scattered shower and 20MPH winds. Wind has caused Romo some problems in the past so I expect Philly to stack the box and make Romo beat the blitz. Choice and Westbrook will be huge factors in this game if the conditions are unfavorable to the passing game. This is certainly not the weather I was hoping for but the OL will need to get the run/screen game going and at some point Romo may just need to prove that he can have control in the wind and adjust his deeper passes accordingly.

Just checked the weather in Philly. today...........

Currently 64 degrees, 10am Eastern Time. (wow)

30% chance of showers later today

Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph.

Maybe a tad windy, but you can't ask for much better than that for late December in Philly.

Better than the alternatives, better than playing in Buffalo...

It is ridiculously nice up here.

There might be a little more wind, but you can't ask for better football weather. It really couldn't be better.

Is this common knowledge? Does Romo consistently have more problems in the wind than other QBs? Musta missed that memo.

it seems romo still tries to throw strikes down the field in weather while other qb's don't.

Here's the "high winds" passer ratings for everybody who has 400+ attempts:
Rodgers 105.0
Cassel 104.9
Pennington 95.1
Garrard 94.6
Warner 93.4
Collins 89.9
Roethlis 89.4
McNabb 87.2
Favre 81.1
EManning 80.0
Brees 79.7
Rivers 78.9
PManning 76.4
Orton 76.2
Cutler 74.2
Flacco 73.4
Romo 72.6
Campbell 70.5
Bulger 58.0

That's from si.com. "High wind" isn't defined, strength of opponent is obviously not considered, and sample sizes vary (Matt Ryan has not played a game in high wind this season).

But Romo hasn't been great in the wind this season.

That plays a big part. Romo definitely throws more long passes than McNabb, for example.

Passes Thrown 21+ yards downfield (total att)
Romo 58 (411)
McNabb 58 (550)

McNabb has thrown 139 more passes than Romo, and none of the the 139 went more than 20 yards in the air.

if you zip it and keep it low, it'll cut through wind instead of getting carried, a la playing golf. Anyone that plays golf knows what I'm talking about.

remember the wind in Chicago that one game.....where the FG was kicked and it went completely horizontal to the line......Now that was some wind. We dont have that problem today.

It isn't just the wind that is the problem. It is how the wind behaves. it is easy to adjust to a straight wind. However, in Pittsburgh, the wind was swirling. It was made it hard for Romo to adjust. Ben is used to the swirls, since he plays there so often.

hopefully in Philly, the wind is straight and not swirly.

So do you have the actual sample sizes? And that's this season right?

I'm happy with thew weather. It is unusually warm.

Romo doesn't have a strong arm. Its common sense. Stronger armed QB's like McNabb and Eli will have their passes effected less in higher wind.

I'd prefer it 10 degrees colder with little wind. But you get what you get.
And we could've have esaily caught a day 40 degrees colder with the same wind.

I don't golf, but I know what you mean. The Steelers game shown that. Hopefully Romo & Garrett remember that. So I will take Romo and those 20 yard zip passes with wind over McNabb and his lack of accuracy compared to Romo's accuracy.

Without listing everybody's sample size, Romo has 68 attempts. And that is for the 2008 season.

Going back over the last two seasons (I don't have anything for 2006), these are Romo's numbers in high wind:

72 of 118 for 839 yards, 61.0% 7.11 ypa, 4 TD 9 INT, 62.1 rating

Other than warner, that's basically a bunch of QBs who don't have vertical offenses up top.

Warner isn't a vertical QB either.

Outside of Pittsburgh I don't remember any high wind games this year.

Cle - nope
GB - nope
AZ - nope
Wash - nope
Texas Stadium games - nope

So their info is already unreliable.

If you say so, but a check of the gamebooks would be more convincing.
